View Full Version : Teen Challenge 101: Christmas
December 20th, 2010, 04:20 PM
First off, congratulations to OmertA for winning Last Teen Standing--your banner looks beautiful. Nibras (lilnebo) will be stepping down as moderator in the Teen Challenge Section and has decided that Nyctalgia and I will be replacing her as the mods who will be running it from now on. I know a bunch of you guys are itching to get started with the next round, so here goes.
Teen Challenge 101: Christmas
The topic for this round is Christmas. This is very open to whatever you want. Have a weird idea? Go for it. Santa redesigns, his sled flying through the air, the simple joy of Christmas (or if you hate it then the terribleness of it), elves making toys, a Rockwell-esque painting. Whatever. The deadline is a bit longer since it you will probably be busy this holiday season. Have fun with it!
DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31st

Ho ho ho!
This is Santa, posting through Nyctalgias account! Since you two, ryanoir and pokepetter have been so nice as to participate in this Christmas challenge, I will give you two a special little gift!
Both of you will recieve the Color and the Theory of Light (http://www.conceptartstore.com/coandthofli.html) streaming class! Ho ho ho!
I will have my good friend Nyctalgia to send you your passwords and instructions as soon as I am able to give them to him. Ho ho ho!

December 25th, 2010, 07:58 PM
Gonna be one of my new years resolutions to win one of these - unlikely, with some of the awesome stuff posted here, but I've got a whole year to try x) - so thought I'd get some practice in and start taking part early :)
Jack Frost and Santa's little girl - cuz if there's any time to cosy up to someone, it's christmas :) current wip :
...and some earlier ones.

December 28th, 2010, 08:59 AM
You'll have to post the final in the finals thread when it shows up near the end of the challenge. :)
December 28th, 2010, 04:57 PM
Okay guys, posted up the finals thread. Great entries so far, but I wanna see more people! You still have a few days if you haven't started yet.
December 30th, 2010, 07:21 PM
:D First time challenger here. Woooo!
Let this be a lesson to myself to NEVER start on projects a day before it's due. xD
Next WIP: Completed foreground.
Finished -fingerscrossed-: Everything done.
Got any advice? (Are you even allowed to give any?)
Also, is it due before the 31st, or before the 31st passes?
December 30th, 2010, 11:32 PM
anaiira: as long as you get it in on the 31st you should be fine! a little bit confusing cause its 230pm on the 31st here so timezones are a litttttle weird D:
of course you can give advice! that's the idea of this thread hehe
id gather reference/inspiration for this, it boosts workflow like a mother fucker
December 31st, 2010, 02:37 AM
Whaaaat. It's 11:40PM on the 30th here.
And thanks for the advice. :D
December 31st, 2010, 02:47 AM
I'm in same timezone as you anaiira :P
His right arm( the one pressing against his forehead) makes it look like hes leaning that way (his shoulders are uneven). I also don't feel like he's actually pressing against his forehead, more like he's just lightly touching it. Kind of a small thing but w/e. keep going with your concept!
Ahh late starts..weee
I'll be going at 11:59 PST of the 31st :D
Sike I doubt I'll finish with only one day left - going to sleep and try tomorrow anyway.
The Christmas Ninja!!
December 31st, 2010, 03:24 AM
skMOP I believe I'm right across the border.
Also, thanks for the advice. That was really bothering me too. I think I'll drop his arm down a bit, and move it around and fix some ragged edges. His arms are really... ARGH! :@
I like your concept. There are only two things that I'd have to gripe about now. Her cape falls a little bit weirdly. It looks like she's stopped and paused, but the cape looks like she's still in motion. Aaaand she steals a candy cane? Really?... Really?
Otherwise, I think she looks cool. :D
I'm off for the night. Let's hope that a couple of hours tomorrow is all I need.
December 31st, 2010, 01:32 PM
Yeah sorry about the confusion with timezones and all. I talked with Nyctalgia about it today and we decided we will make it GMT for future challenges, but this time around because I wasn't clear just make sure it is still the 31st somewhere in the world :).
December 31st, 2010, 07:13 PM
thanks for the advice anaiira, tried without much success to make the rest of her more dynamic... And oh haha its supposed to be like a dagger, meant to flip it.
WIP2, 4:13PM. Woo let's go.
