Rahll posted this walkthrough (http://rahll.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2d8xih) on his deviantART page. There is also a link to a livestream in the comments.
Matte painting like everything else is just about having skills as an artist. So any tutorial by an artist will just show you how they approach the subject. It's up to your skills and study to make a great painting yourself. :)

his tutorial is awesome but with my skills it would take 40 days to complete it, btw i didnt undestand what images he added , i mean in the gray scale version it looks painted but in color i dont know if the image is made of REAL images or he painted it himself

I've seen Matte Paintings that are fully colored or painted by the individual and I've seen Matte Paintings that integrate photographic material.

It all depends on its purpose.

you paint in matte-paintings, tutorials are bad if you ask me in my opinion, the best thing that helped me out is like " okay,Ive got to turn a sketch into something realistic with the help of photographs and 3d". It was rough that way but I actually like it now.Explore the programs you using, make mistake and learn from them ;)

I invested in the Dylan Cole's Gnomon DVDs...It teaches you everything you need to know from sketch to finished product.
