Hey kids, after working on this little something for a week or two, I figured the CA crew would get a kick out of it.

For those who don't remember...you're better off ;) Seriously though, Dinosaucers is one of those 1980's good-vs-evil series where anthropomorphic alien dinosaurs wage war in a kid-friendly comedic manner. No death, no real violence, just silly talking dinosaurs.

This is a privately commissioned project, for-the-funzies.

Back in 2008, I made these illustrations of Ghengis Rex, Ankylo, Quackpot, Teryx and Allo, based on the original designs from the DiC cartoon. They were the first in the set and, looking back on them, I still like them, but would likely have done them differently today.

This year, I was commissioned for another set, being Styraco, Plesio, Brachio, Terrible Dactyl, Captain Sabertooth and Smilin' Don.

When tackling these characters, I liked to go back over their original origins for each and find aspects that I liked and emphasize them. For example: Styraco was a dentist...so I imagined him as a sadistic bastard who collected the teeth of his fallen (or not-quite-fallen) foes. The Sabertoothes were the most fun, as Space Pirates tend to be!

Lemme' know what you guys think :)

Nice work! These definitely remind me of the originals but with a modern comic-book style to them. Your designs from this year have much stronger personalities and silhouettes than the 2008 batch.

I was watching the intro at work the other day after I heard the fiasco about Triceratops never existing (they are just baby Torosaurus!!!). Another part of my childhood disappears.

Were these drawn/inked digitally?

These were inked by hand. I don't care for digital inking ;)
But thanks! Yeah, looking back on the 2008 batch, it's great seeing my personal development all laid out.

Yeah, the whole Triceratops thing STILL has me scratching my head.
