Just got inspired to get out my mirror and do some self portraits after seeing people doing that self portrait a day challenge.
This one took about four hours, not bad for my 2nd self portrait I'd say. I'd say it's a pretty close likeness too.
EDIT: Just noticed I fudged up on the lips.

Hey if you can keep it up it pays off. This daily self portrait stuff works.
Try to use some more lighter tones so that you can get a full range of values.

I'm still not sure about taking the challenge, although I guess I should do this more often. I can see why people do it though, it definitely sharpens your perceptions since you got to be pretty much exact to get a likeness. And yeah, I should've made the highlights brighter.

Here's my attempt at pastels, didn't get the look I was initially going for but I like it. With the rest I'm studying the expression of anger, angle relationships, and perspective in the face.

Done with charcoal, conte, erasing, and smudging. Trying to experiment with mark making technique.

Nice texture and value range in this last one! I like some of the ones you called "fairly recent stuff" but feels kind of soft.. just a little bit tighter and it might be money
