Self-portraits huzzah! One model that's always available, right? :)

I'm not going to promise I'll be doing mine daily, cause that's a promise I probably won't be able to keep, but I'll definitely try to work on them often.

Submitting two so far.

First one is disastrous, my first drawing since primary school and it has been a while, trust me. Done it for an exercise from Betty Edwards' 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' as the 'pre-instruction portrait'. Hey, at least I'm not afraid to get flamed. :)

Second one is done in Photoshop, referenced from a photo of myself.

Here's to a good start.

Well done kulka, so you really do exist?? haha. I started with the very same exercise from Betty Edwards book and I ended up looking like an alien so I think that yours is an excellent first try.

The digital is really fantastic and if you are just starting out it's phenomenal!! I'm so glad you finally posted and I hope you keep 'em coming.

This is a link to a post by Android about using mirrors for sp's as well as a bit of selfportrait zen. It's post number 35.

Thanks for all the kind words. Yeah, that was my second digital piece ever, and first one in Photoshop. Me and Painter don't get along too well. You should've seen the mess it was at the beginning, since I didn't use outline just layers of colour that I slowly refined. ;) At least the outcome is pleasing.

Been away for quite a while, but here is the long overdue update. A self-portrait I referenced from a photo of myself, done in roughly half an hour. The anatomy still isn't 100%, but I think there's some progress.
