Hey guys,

I'm going to be buying plane tickets to Kansas City sometime in the next week but I've never been to KS. I know it is in two states but I'm not sure about the layout or airports or anything.

Is there anything I should know about the city? I'm going to buy tickets to fly up the night before, and return the day after the workshop. Should I make room in my bags for acrylics, pastels, 18x24 skecthpads? or will be doing mostly digital things. Well I guess this information isn't necessary right now but it might make a different on whether I fly southwest or continental b/c southwest doesn't charge for bags.

I am not going to be arranging the hotels yet because I am going to hold out until we know the location or we know if you guys can arrange any group discounts.

I am all down for sharing a room to save some cash. or even getting 3 people in a 2 bed hotel and just sleeping on the floor. but again, i'm about 2 months early on this. The hotel, the exact location, and the supplies I need can all be worked out later.

woot! This is so friggin awesome. I hope to see everyone in Kansas City!!

Thyname , You are correct that Kansas City has both a Kansas City, Kansas and and Kansas City, Missouri component. You will be living and working on the Missouri side. The housing we have for the workshop and the TAD studio space are both in Missouri.

The airport is called MCI, which stands for Mid Continent International. The slang for the airport is "KCI" but your luggage will all be tagged "MCI." It is located about 25 miles, (30 minutes) north of the city. I am not sure what a taxi cab will cost to bring you from the airport into KC, but they also have shuttles, (small buses) that can bring you into town and stop at several large hotels, from which you can grab a taxi cab to your final destination.

We are working on all these details and will offer more info as we iron it out.

I looked forward to meeting you in person. When your Conceptual Portrait was critiqued during Discovery with Chris Payne and John, I was the one that was actually doing the "paint-over" on the Whiteboard. Can't wait to hang out with you.

Nice to hear there'll be prearranged housing options for the workshop. Just wondering if it'll be available for people getting there early?

I intend to arrive in Kansas City the week prior to the workshop starting (maybe around the 7th or 8th) to organise myself.
