Hello everyone on CA.org!
Recently discovered this site and thought back on the day´s when I usually draw alot.
Now I´m 17 and I´m trying to get back to the drawing and I see that alot of people are way´s ahead of me and therefore I´m searching for a teacher that just can give me tips and "homework". (May seem like I´m lazy with not trying to do research by myself but I think working with another human being will make it even funnier and maybe it will give you a new friend along with it. I also have it a bit tight with the learning since university is soon to come.)
I don´t have alot in life and therefore got alot of spare time to draw and also money to spend on it.
So far I´ve only used pencil´s and paper´s and I would wish to coninue with that for a while till I know about the human body a little better and get my drawing skill´s up abit.
A little about myself, my name is Kevin Johansson I´m from Sweden and I´m as I´ve said above 17 year´s old.
What I´m after with getting better at drawing is to become a concept artist in the game industry, so the tutoring would be toward´s the game industry.
Emmm, I know that this is alot to ask about for free but I can atleast hope that you all on this community has such a great hospitality that I´ve seen so far on this site.
Any question´s about anything related to the tutoring is something I would happily answere!

Best Regards Kevin.

PS. Is this the right part of the forum to ask this from? I didn´t find anything good on the other part´s and this is related to Concept art.
Sorry for misspelling and faultity in grammar.

Hey, man, welcome to CA!

First thing you might want to do is begin posting some work, and let us know which direction you're headed, and maybe a little about what training in the arts you've had. You're young, so don't be afraid to experiment in other mediums, and maybe digitally if you've thought about getting a tablet.

There are tons of great resources for concept art online (this being one of the best of 'em), but think about investing in some books or tutorials too. You might not get a personal teacher, but you will get feedback -so get to drawing!

Hello and thank you both for the quick reply!
@ Caligumenthe
Yea, I´ve been in search for a good anatomy book just to get the hang of the skeleton and the muscle´s and I think I´ve found something good.
If you got a book you like then feel free to share!
I know about the picture´s and will soon buy a laserscanner, but will talk to the teacher´s at school and ask if I can borrow the scanner there.
The thing I´m interested in is mostly the character design and I´ve been reading alot of manga, wich have influenced my drawing but I´ve also got into a bit of realistic work at the same time and blend it into something unique that I use.
Idd, CA.org is a really great site, many great and talented artist´s here (kinda frightens me :/ x3)!
Yea, Drawing I am idd, started one week ago again and usually sit several hour´s a day, it is alot of fun!
I know about trying different drawing medium´s and I have but so far only the pencil have given me a good feeling.

@ James Dussqe
I like aaron´s style, and I do think he can give some useful tip´s to me!

Thank you both again!

Best regards Kevin.

My suggestion would be to do a lot of practicing drawing three dimensionally. The character you posted is very straight-on and flat. I have to constantly fight with myself to not draw that way. It is easier to draw 2D and sometimes can be useful for exploring design ideas but ultimately your character is intended to be 3D so you need to be able to design with 3D forms in space, not just 2D lines and flat shapes. Try drawing some characters in a 3/4 view and concentrate on feeling their mass. The sooner you force yourself to get used to it the better. Don't be late like me. I'm 27! I've been pushing myself to do this regularly in my sketchbook. It can be a real work out on my brain sometimes. And humbling when I see people like Marko do it in 2 seconds. :x

Hi BRIAN55, I think the best would be if you started a new thread about it and explain abit about yourself and your goal with it and maybe put up a pic that you´ve made to let them see, if they can´t be your teacher then I´m sure they can give tip´s like the nice gentlemen above have done.

Best regards from Kevin!
