Spartan Camp #127- 50 gestures + Optional "Facial Expression Study"

The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 28th of December.

- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you!

- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Facial Expression Study", in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:
A tough one, perhaps, so I've included some possible reference below. Any expression will do. You can go for a stylized approach if you want. Loomis also covers character and expression in his books.
Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you! Have fun!

50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.

Critting each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference and resources!! Let's help each other get better!

Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

Sweet optional, way too easy if referenced (I can imagine only one easier stuff for me: eyes) so I will try to draw a character of mine.
Strange but even when I do RP with my characters, if I just want to draw them, I mess them up but if I just want to draw a special expression, I'm way better without any special effort or attention, it just happens. It would be cool when I could do it any time.

Mouthes. They are hard and I was always bad at smiles. I can't do it even with one line for a minimalistic face :( I'll need much more practice. Maybe less detailed ones... But I couldn't resist.

It wasn't my week. I couldn't do more than these despite the fact drawing has top priority in my life now.

I don't feel like to copy poses when I can't remember anything afterwards and sometimes I can't even copy. I have some idea what I should change... My fight continues...

Maybe it's okay to put this here too.

shiNIN; Afraid it's only you this week shinin! I couldn't find the time myself, although I admit there was bad planning involved.
I agree on a few of your points. Those mouths ARE good. There's one observation that I think is important, see for yourself if I'm correct here. Some of those mouths seem successful because of the subtle painting. For example the middle mouth at the top (sideview, lips parted). Transition between lower lip and the surrounding skin - no line or anything, just a small, conscious shift. Also that mouth on the right with a small arrow next to it. Those small light and dark accents (left corner of the mouth) were all you needed to express the form. That's good stuff. And these concepts apply to anything you're drawing/painting.
A second thing; "I'm way better without any special effort or attention". I think this can be true at times. Be careful with forcing yourself. The action itself may lose its purpose. It's good to draw 'freely', a sketchbook is perfect for that.

Great stuff. Shame you had no company this week! We'll see what happens next round.

One of my smaller problems that I love details so much... I think I have little patience but I can play with details for long... instead grabbing what's important effectively and simply... I hope I will do that one day. I'd love to.
