Does anyone know when shawn barber's next dvd "portrait painting from reference" is going to be available? I tweeted him and he said soon through massive black and CA but I was wondering if there was a more solid date?

Awesome, I just got the foundation painting and it was very, very helpful. So I will be sure to get this. Can't wait!

ssswwweeeeettttttt. My school sucks... teachers teaching art instead of artists teaching art. I learned most of what I know through videos and books, foundation painting was terrific. can't wait for this one.

Good question.. I was wondering the same thing. I tried tweeting at shawn again but he just blew it off I guess bc I never seen a response. No one from MB on here has ever responded when I asked.. who knows with these guys they are always up to something, though it can be slow going when it comes to releasing things.

We didn't want it to feel rushed so unfortunately I had to delay the final editing pass until after a very long work trip/holiday break. I'll be back in the office early February, with loads of new content and eager to finish up work on Shawn's video.

Perhaps they do not yet have an estimate... They would perhaps rather not come with a release date and then have to postpone it for whatever reason, and then making people more pissed than necessary.

Yea I got the jist of why they wouldn't come out and say until they know for sure. I'm just trying to keep my thread alive and well and to make sure they know that there are many of us out there that are waiting on this particular release.

ryanoir: thanks for the unsolicted 2 cents... you should save the change for the homeless. I know its not easy to put it out and I've said before that I comment on my thread to keep it at the top of the list and make sure MB knows there are people out there truly looking forward to the release (which was supposed to be a month or more ago). Its funny how people drop in to tell me to be patient like I'm an ass.. everything I've said has been in a joking tone, go back and read.

It's understandable that people would like to know when this is released, however if people are going to be testy with each other on the forums for a release date, I can simply lock the thread since Admins can reply on locked threads to eliminate the noise and bickering so that MB can give a response.

Seems like a big over-reaction to me. Most of (if not all) of the posts have been supportive of the project and eager to see it/buy it. I hate when people come in throwing around the "Admin" card and make baseless threats. I haven't found anything that is objectionable or rude, it seemed like a thread where there was civil discourse with differing opinions.

Especially the last several posts including the last two by me which stated the facts. I asked about the project in December, and S. Barber told me within a month for sure.. well here we are almost 6 months later and nothing has come out.

I comment on this thread to keep it a live and relevant and in most cases try to come up with a funny line to keep it light and entertaining.

I feel its unwarranted to threaten to lock it over an over-reaction... but your the "admin" so hey.. I'm just a peasant looking to get a S. Barber dvd. lol

It's not that weird. When you're bumping the posts with "wtf" "this is a myth," after the bickering posts what does it look like? It comes off as looking annoyed and pissed and continuing. It gives a tone of negativity due to the delay. Like I said, I understand. You're waiting for a DVD that you're eager for release. But if the threads keep going like this people are going to see the recent ones and it takes a very negative tone.

So I understand you want to keep the thread alive but it's bumped with posts like that, I'd rather lock it till Massive has an actual update. So it stops looking like a slow agonizing chain of bickering.

The "myth" post was an obvious joke that everyone (well apparently not everyone) got I thought, it was said in jest. As far as the "wtf".. I used a smiley that is provided by CA when you go to leave a comment.. so how is it hostile or better stated if its negative then 1. when is it permitted in your eyes to use it and 2. why provide it at all?

And I still don't understand the bickering part.. you seem to be the only one taking it that way. No one else since december or jan whenever this thread started has even remotely suggested that. I just think you are WAY blowing this out of proportion. I hate to be a broken record but you seem to get more out of touch imo each time you respond. Its like we see the glass half full and you just see a glass that could possibly be knocked over even though no one is touching it.

Bottom line is this thread isn't/won't/wasn't hurting MB in any way whatsoever. I mean its been up for months and just now got to a second page.. and besides no one really seems to comment on the forums in this section hence the reason that this thread can remain towards the top of the list. Just seems the attention would be good for MB. A lot of people weren't even aware he recorded another DVD I asked him through Twitter bc I seen something about it on there.

So in the end you can't always fight against the "man" or in this case "admin" if you feel the need to lock it.. then lock it. But don't expect people to think these forums are a place for civil discourse and exchange of ideas and in the future people may be less excited about upcoming projects for fear they'll be branded with the scarlet "bickering" letter.

I like what MB does and appreciate their content as I am a fan of several of their artists and those who are connected to them in some way such as SB and enjoy Coro a bit as well N8 and all those talented guys. That being said...
