View Full Version : Driver, Lag, etc

Okay, I recently installed Windows 7, it ran fine for a few weeks, photoshop didn't have any lag at all. Recently, it just started lagging for no reason. Only photoshop.

The lag happens when ever I make a brush stroke. It's as if I'm drawing a straight line, when I'm actually doing circles, or any kind of brush stroke at all.
I disabled all visual themes, etc, that would for other reasons, cause the lag.

So, in another attempt, I go to download the drivers from Wacoms homepage. The newest November 25th, Windows 7 Drivers. But, when I go to set it up, I get a zip damaged file error. So I go to download the older vista driver, same thing. I cleared cache, history, etc. Did a restart, but I still get the error when I try to install it. Even after I've downloaded each driver a good 3-4 times.

Help would be great.

Hey there,

This sounds like a problem I had under Vista, actually. And Windows 7 being basically just Vista with touch ups, it might be the same issue. If you haven't though, check out the sticky in this forum on the tablet input service, in case you haven't done that already, which might do it as well. And also, check accessibility options, things like sticky keys can sometimes cause something like that to occur.

For me the error was a strange interaction between the "Aero" theme and Photoshop. And it only occurred in Photoshop. I'd turned -off- everything seeking a performance boost and that's when it occurred. For some reason the CS3 and 4 versions (might extend to other version, but I never tested) of Photoshop need the Aero theme -enabled-... and fully enabled. Any tweaking from the default settings on that theme, caused a delay issue and incorrect strokes.

I haven't looked at the themes in Windows 7 yet... since I've just avoided them because of the previous issue I had in Vista, but you might want to try it's default... or actually turning on themes. It's weird and makes utterly no technical sense, but there you have it... and I so far haven't had any issues with PS under 7.

Good luck and hope this helps!
