I need some advice,
today, like everyday, I got super pissed at my pen, this got to the point where I threw it at a wall and now it has stopped functioning, Whenever I shake it, I hear loose components, all I need to do is open the pen and solder them back to the motherboard, but that is where the challenge lies, I have no idea how to open the damn thing, any suggestions?

well first, I feel ya, sometimes I really wish stubborn items could feel pain
and second... even if you fix it, it would still do whatever pissed you off about it so much no? may I ask what type of pen is it (which tablet) and you should probably just consider getting a new one.

little too late for that, I tried to open it like a dumbass and snapped the motherboard in two, the brand was wacom, meh, the pen only costs 30 bucks anyway, and plus, this also gives me the oppritunity to use traditional materials aswell.

Indeed, it's much better if you got a new one, because evan if you did have fixed it, it could stop working at any time

My thoughts exactly :) my own wacom is too precious to me to ever damage it, no matter how badly it screws up.
Then again, i'm poor so i can't really afford a new pen on a student budget

Maybe if you throw it again hard enough, it'll open up and you can solder it.

Wacom store has pens I think. Not sure what the link is but it's somewhere in there for sure.
And don't feel bad, I throw my pen all the time, spilled chai on it once, and it's a miracle that it hasn't broke yet. (Although the eraser part is a bit weird now... Luckily I don't really need that.)

are you planning on banning him? ...So when a group of self-righteous condescending internet bullies gang up on the sensitive guy, he's the one being blamed for being angry? Now Elwell, I know you get off on how many "thanks" you get judging from the type of comments you usually make. But that would be uncalled for. A warning to control his temperament maybe would be better.
WAL, just ignore those comments (or learn how to laugh at yourself a little, those comments were kind of funny...)

Throwing insults and cursing back at people doesn't make you equally right. Even I thought when I first read his post: "Why throw the pen?" If it doesn't work, Google and see if anyone troubleshoots it. If not, save up the money and get yourself another one. Getting into a potentially destructive rage over such a minuscule thing doesn't help you and considering potential employers do read these posts, his cursing back reflects negatively on him as well.
What is he going to do if he ends up getting hired someday and the Wacom pen there stops working? Is he going to throw it across the room and perhaps hurt someone? Not everything's going to work out the way we like it in life but if there are anger management issues, getting that resolved first would help. Blowing up at the slightest irritant does bad things for your blood pressure as well as social relationships/potential connections.

I agree, he definitely should learn to control his anger. But we could be judging too soon, he could have had a rough week, and sometimes I wish noone would judge who I am solely based on my worst day (though I express myself differently than he did). That's why I think a verbal warning would have been best if this was a first time slip, especially since it was provoked. If its was a recurring act after being warned, then yeah, a ban and maybe therapy would be fitting.
What's done is done, there's no point in arguing it, I dont think there's a court here and Im definitely not a lawyer lol. its ok with me

OK with me as well - just tossing in my two cents on the problem. I hope he gets himself a new pen that doesn't go kaput on him. Funny enough, in my case, my Wacom mouse got screwy half a year ago. I've been using my pen to navigate online, which is rather interesting.

hmm this made me curius, is it possible to open the pen, and take out... the...whatever it is that syncs with the board.. a magnet or something? o.O and put it into a normal BIC? (along with the other essential parts)
i know this is a little stupid question.. but its the first thing that cane to my mind, and i think it would be nice with a topic change...

Pretty sure they glue it or its a one way snap in part.
The pen runs off of a electromagnetic field that the tablet generates, picked up from a coil at either end.
