great work every one
The setting takes place during the 1700's in spain.
These witches hold their sabbath deep in some distant waste land.
They gather among ruined buildings built ontop of more ancient ruins.
These ancient ruins used to be their temple where they held their dark rituals.
At one point in history they were hunted and killed off, their temple was burned and forgoten about.
At present the witches were forced to practice in secret. Now only a select few know about these ruins and come back here.
Thanks for looking :)

Here is my final and icon. I'm new to these weekly challenge as well as the website as a whole, so I don't know how things are done mostly. Please bear with me if I make mistakes often.

First time for me actually completing a weekly challenge. Hurray! :) Hopefully I followed all the rules correctly...
October 31st, 2009, 02:13 PM
This is my first EoW, and its the great way to learn through compatition...
October 31st, 2009, 11:26 PM
Good stuff all.
/ev, especially like yours.
Here's mine. I wanted to do the picture
more like a complete setting rather
than just an environment. I stress that
the main focal point is still the environment
and how its built up.

November 1st, 2009, 04:11 AM
First EOW for me. I don't know that I really found the best solutions, but I think I like a few things I did. Gotta give this a try again soon.
I really like some of the other pieces. Excellent work.
November 1st, 2009, 05:06 AM

November 1st, 2009, 10:15 AM

Wow, I'm just mesmerized. There are some kick ass artworks! Hence I'm humbly placing a 45min sketch (I wish I'd work more, but it's too late and I need to sleep :( )
Hope the sketch is pertinent to the brief.

November 2nd, 2009, 09:53 AM
I had some work come up during the weekend so I couldn't finish this one in time but I liked where I was going with it. So here it is, better late then never.
Awsome round everyone really good entries, people brought there A game!
November 2nd, 2009, 11:34 AM
My face! It has melted off!
I whole heartily agree with the whole "killed it" point of view.
I am very impressed with everyone's results. Well done.
November 2nd, 2009, 04:08 PM
Well this contest would have been fun for me, but alas I rarely have time to "play" in these things, though I do have a link to show off:
Something akin to this. Note this is the actually fire pit I have in my backyard and a new friend Emily pictured behind it.
November 2nd, 2009, 06:52 PM
new topic Here
did you all do Self portraits? I did....
poll up shortly
November 2nd, 2009, 07:42 PM
ok folks here's the issues..Chaos is gonna get a little crabby here.. I do have standards. because I know environments are tough. I cut you all loads of slack.
but this week, three had attached Icons and one had no icon... I don'tknow how to say it more often or louder. so these have simply not been included in the poll.
near;y eliminated were a couple who had a lot of scrolling and extra huge images... how you expect and AD to get your concept whenthey have to scroll around a page to see it all..I don't know. check your images to be sure your resolution is appropriate.
nearly eliminated: Tuchten , because it is a scene not an environment,,, but the style adn finish of it amused me so I let it be
Duman, because the composition and finish are really not up to speedthe big black pot i the middle of the page is so dominant that it becomes a totally off topic element
poll up momentarily
November 2nd, 2009, 08:38 PM
Chaos- Can I ask why my piece wasn't included in the poll? My image wasn't any larger than some others, and I included my icon. I was unsure about how to out host it, but I thought I had managed it correctly. I just want to know so I won't repeat my mistake.
November 2nd, 2009, 11:57 PM
Chaos, I sent you a PM but I think PMs aren't currently working. Just wanted to offer that if youd like help posting the polls or topics temporarily, I'd be happy to help you out since your hand is broken.
November 3rd, 2009, 03:33 AM
Photobucket playing up.
I have relinked it. Sorry about that.
And now the attachment manager is playing silly buggers when I tried to add a smaller version , grr I have outside hosted the icon and a smaller version of the image and also attached a large version of the image. And at the moment all I can see is the thumbnail!!!!!
Can you guys see the _attached_ image ?
November 3rd, 2009, 07:22 AM
@ Gaius: no I just see little questionmarks. the outside-hosted stuff works.EDIT: now works
I voted for Gaius and Tonic. Gaius, cuz…well maaad rendering. Also I think its making me think about a world that exists beyond the frame of the peice. well done!
Tonic cuz sort of the same reasons, and also, the piece is completely different from what one would expect. and its fresh:)
November 3rd, 2009, 09:18 AM
Good looking round everyone! Had to make hard choices.
Gaius: While I was voting, your post was missing from the thread, so I did not have the chance to vote for your entry.
November 3rd, 2009, 12:02 PM
goat, your icon is attached via tha Concept art attachment manager. I cannot use it with out rehosting it
I ask thatthe icon be hosted by someoutside source such asb image shack, or photobucket
the reasoning behind this has been explianed in numerous places
November 3rd, 2009, 12:04 PM
Gaius image is not missing
merelyt the icon...photobucket and CA and I are having issues
you can still vote for his
see the little white box by the missing icon?
November 3rd, 2009, 02:53 PM
Vote went to Tonic for having fresh idea, Josh for great composition that just struck me as brilliant, and Guile for unique atmosphere. Awesome work guys :]
I learn something new about each thread, board, and illustrating technique each time I participate, plus I get to make something extra. There is no idle moment!
November 3rd, 2009, 04:38 PM
My vote goes for tSjuni - fresh style
November 3rd, 2009, 09:03 PM
Crap. I guess I should learn how to read :( Oh well. Maybe next time.
November 8th, 2009, 11:29 AM
Gaius got my vote. Not only for the beautiful rendering but because it makes me a little homesick for Scotland.
