Just did update. There's quite number of changes, but I did it 100% for this reason:

We overhauled SketchUp's rendering engine to make it easier to work with big models. With the right setup, operations like orbiting, zooming and drawing are quicker and smoother. Of course, how much quicker depends entirely on factors like your computer's configuration and the specific model you're working on. For most people, most of the time, SketchUp should feel snappier when they're working with lots of geometry. Have a look at this article to find out how to take advantage of the improvements we made.

Checked with my sci-fi hall (+270 000 edges and +110 000 faces). There was a big improvement when it comes to maneuvering with camera - it's a lot smoother :-D

How did you like the update?

WARNING!

This may not be important to you but please be aware that the new 7.1 release removes the ability to imort CAD files. Adobe Illustrator (or Photoshop Paths> Illustrator) can export paths as Autocad .cad or .dxf files for import into Sketchup but not 7.1. Only Pro users have that ability now.

However, there is still a plugin (http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=161784) that will do the job for a limited time.

Thanks for note. I knew they were going to remove this feature in SketchUp 8, but already in 7.1? Oh well.

Hmm, if it's removed, then maybe there will be plugin coders that would write a importer?
