119 Stage set from Mozart's "The Magic Flute"

Brief:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magic_Flute

for anyone unfamiliar with Mozart's opera this show is a fantasy and has many oportunities for Imaginative stage treatments. the link above has a fairly complete plot synopsis.

I am your Director for this one. And i will try to give feed back as a true director would

* choose a scene to design the set for
* your stage is as large or as small as you like, and you have an unlimited budget
*yhe show is a fantasy and as the director I am in the earliest stages of deciding on the style and look of the showi. I am asking you as the set designer to toss your ideas out and see what flies
* welcome to my world, this is truly concept art.

Hello EOW,

At first I was more focused on the scene in the play as an environment. Then I pulled way back to show not only the set but the theater itself and its environment. The scene I choose is in the palm grove. The environment is an outdoor ampitheater. The set is comprised of palm trees and other desert plants. These palm trees float and move away from the shell of the theater. The farthest palm trees are equiped with speakers to evenly distribute the sound among the audience.

thank you enjoy!

So here is a stage for Act 2 Scene 7: A hall in the temple of Ordeal where Tamino and Papageno must again suffer the test of silence.

Act One, Scene One - Tamino in a strange land.
Chaos' point about the frame causing an aperture effect for the side audience was a oversight on my part.

Scene 6: A garden, Pamina asleep

Monostatos approaches and gazes upon Pamina with rapture. (Aria: Alles fühlt der Liebe Freuden) When the Queen of the Night appears and gives Pamina a dagger with which to kill Sarastro (Aria: Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen / "Hell's vengeance boileth in mine heart"), Monostatos retires and listens. He tries to force Pamina's love by using the secret, but is prevented by Sarastro, who allays Pamina's alarm. (Aria: In diesen heil'gen Hallen) ~wickipedia

Just wow ! there isnt too much entries, but there is quality for sure ! :)
Voted for guilefine, really love it !
Buka : your's is awesome too, but unfortunately could only give one vote.
Neonoir : reallyyy... really good too.
Tsujini : Man, nice idea but maybe a little too unfinished for me (although you know I love your stuff, especially what you had done for the #100 EOW).
Darknight : Nice too, but maybe too simple compare to others, I think you could have pushed it a little more ;)

Again awesome round everyone !

Voted buka for doable modern approach without going to scifi.
Well done to others. I thought mine was going too traditional so didn't finish it, sorry :(

I voted for

Neonoir: I just liked this one the best, good job Neonoir!:) my only critique is that the foliage doesnt seem to be at the same level of detail as the structure, some really lush foliage would have been good,.

Voted for guilefine. Very nice outdoor performance stage scene.

Mark Tarrisse: thanks Mark~!

darknight: Thanks~! I'll certainly try to balance the details across the scene next time :) I also think I could have done better with the color harmony.
