Hi all,
i have certainly a stupid question but as i don't have any solution, i ask you fellows. I have big problems now to "save image as" in Internet Explorer 6. Don't know why, but now the file format is always "Bitmap" and the title don't appear, even if i know that the image is a jpg. It's very usefull, espacially on Concept art to keep inspiration sources. Do you have any idea what to do ??????? 2 days ago, it was good. Thnaks folks! :D

lol. I have the same problem and don't know how to fix it. It's been like that for 3-4months 'cause it's not a big enough problem to bother about.

I can't help with exact reasons why, but does it happen on all sites? or just a few?.
Some fixes I have found for this are:
. Some sites have an odd way of storing them and you have to click the reload button afterwards. The pic will reload quickly (as it is in the cache), and you can then save it normally. That has only worked on a few sites though.
. Get a download manager. I use GetRight and you can just right-click on the image and use the GetRight save-as command. Saves it fine, except you have to re-download the file.
I used to have the .bmp problem all the time with IE6 before the upgrade patches were released. DO you have then installed?
Sorry I can't be of any greater use. Perhaps find a tech forum and have a quick search on them.

yep, it does that for me too. So I have to go in Paint, open up the Bitmap image, and save it as JPG. What a hassle. AOL does the same thing.
If you have Netscape, you can save stuff as JPGs usually.

What OS are you using? I've been told its been a problem in Windows 98 and Windows ME.

I get the same problem in XP, it used to save in the correct formats but then just stopped and now evertything is in .bmp
I have found the problem is only with .jpg, .gif still saves fine

i have the same problem once in awhile. In my case its because the cache gets complety filled. So if you delete all your temporary internet files it should fix the problem... You may have to do it manually if the "delete files" button lock sup internet explorer
