Concept Artist

Hi, I was just wondering if being a concept artist could be an actual career and that concept artists (mostly specializes in concept drawing) could work in gaming companies and design companies and get good money off of it. Also, could you also make money from doing concept art as a hobby, and have a main job such as a business man? I would like to know, because I am that stage in life where I must choose what I will do for a living. Btw, I am a newbie here at conceptart.org.
