paradoxba ; Love the suit. Place doesn't read as a 'dock', more like a lab with crazy creatures.
j.s. sabastian; Great'story'. And lots of funny details, always a big fan of that. Lot of ground to cover for you too though, think you're getting somewhat lost in the details. Not everything needs a rimlight!
Lotta; Nice to see a crazy creature design in here. Chains are a good fit too. Your ship intrigues me. Think only that figure is somewhat lacking. Stick figure standing on the canvas edge!
dragonfury; Original take with the friendly creatures. Great job on the clothing. (her) left eye is huge! You can probably remove some of the pencil sketch by now.
goran ; Crazy shapes on that creature. Looks like a repeated shape. I'm seeing more of those, are you using some textured brushes or the clone stamp thing? I think especially the left part, close to the viewer, looks quite realistic. With those pipes and the cast shadow on them.

I messed up a first try, so 45 mins on this one. Keep it below 1.5hr right :)

Anthis: I really like your composition. One of the dock guys is like "Umm...dude...hey...dude..." It's wonderful. :)

Anywho. Here's mine.

Lighting is all askew. And what can I say...it's a sketch.

Haha, spent to much time of the guy and didn't have enough time to do background...plus I was kinda lazy.
Sorry, my comp is on the fritz and this one can't use photoshop so it's not done on my wacom. @.@
Had to tweak it a little, the contrast, so you could see it. :O

Hiya. Thought I'd start posting here again. I made a new account with facebook since I can't remember what happened to my old account. I used to be spazizoner, some people might remember me (Goran? Very nice by the way) but somehow I doubt it. Anyway, here's my sketch.

I just realised the worker I drew is probably gonna have a hard time reaching the sinks (with his hands at least :P). Bad perspective planning!

Anyways, I'm bored, so I'll have a go at giving some critiques to you guys and get back into the groove of things. They say you learn a thing faster if you teach it. Don't forget that it's always helpful to be critical with yourself. Figure out what doesn't work and fix it!

idiot-monarch: I'll try to keep this short. I see what you were trying to do here. Good work with the metallic texture of the walkway thing, and the crate. I'd complain that the whole image is way too dark, but you could argue that it's supposed to be that dark. I would personally try to define the scenery a bit more, and try to make the edges of the room more visible, even if they're still dark. Might wanna look at some photos of basements or dark warehouses or something, and just draw them. References always help. The lighting on the workers also seems wrong. The main light source is behind them, so their fronts shouldn't be lit up. Can't really tell what the orange thing on the floor is either.

SGR: Nice. Not really much to complain about. I take it you aren't too bothered about shading? The workers might benefit from a little bit of cell shading, but whatever. All I can really see is that the perspective's a bit wrong. I don't know if it's me but the workers in the background seem a bit too small, compared to the ones in the foreground.

X@v.: I like this. I can't find anything to criticize. The lighting's great and I love how you can't tell how big the snake is cause there appears to be a big drop below that balcony. I particularly like the smooth edges of everything, the walls and the railings etc. Maybe cut down on the brush textures and paint the details on the snake yourself? That's just my personal preference though.

Seraph Fawkes: Nice work! Impressive use of perspective. The one thing nagging me about it though is the perspective of the snake crashing (i wasn't certain if that's what he's doing) through the crane. Looks to me like the part of the snake crashing through the crane is closer than the crane itself. Also it's raining. Maybe make everything less shiny? :P

StompTheGlomp: Good job with the expression on the worker's face. He really looks quite terrified. Although I'm not sure what of. It's hard to make out much, or where he is, or what the green thing is attached to. You're right, the lighting is a bit askew. I can't really tell if there's a primary light source.

Lotta: Nice amount of detail you've put into that beasty :P However you neglected to give the rest of the picture the same treatment. Not sure I like how the monster is coloured while everything else is black and white. I feel like you need to take a bit more care with your strokes. I'm seeing a lot of areas where the object has an edge, but you go outside of the lines, if you understand me. Try to cut down on the airbrush and give the objects some nice smooth edges.

I'd give everyone a critique but I'm getting lazy now. Haha. Keep it up guys.

Time for some good old crits I think.

paradoxba: Nice work on the colouring man, I like the perspective, makes it look like more of an action shot. I think you could have spent a little more time on some areas; more detail on the monster perhaps, and the surrounding environment. Just little touch ups you know.

j.s. sabastian: Loving the robot. I think that overall the pic looks a little flat, could do with more environmental depth, you know what I mean? Cool monsters. ;)

Lotta: Real nice monster design, looks like he could easily crush poor Edward. :p
My advice is maybe look at the overall creature shadowing, you've put in all the right things, but in that environment I think that he would be darker on one side, maybe more shadowy underneath, give it more depth and atmosphere. :)

dragonfury: Loving the cute likul monsters. :star: Great work on the clothing etc, but I think her face could do with a little more work. ;)

goran: Awesome. Cool gloomy environment, and the atmosphere is great. :D
Only crit is that I'm unsure if the main part of the beastie's body is meant to be that vague, looks almost misty. Or is that my screen? 0.o

Anthis: Looks a cool beastie, lil' more work all round would be great, you know, some more shading for depth etc. Nice job though. ;)

satorius.: The monster could be good with some more work, but the surroundings aren't very good. "ship lol". Make a sketchbook, practice basics, and we can all help you there. ;)

StompTheGlomp: I like her expression, looks really desperate. ;)

lkjhgfdsa: Preety slick mate, love the work on the alien's funky sheild. :D

tmyohlaing: Great work on the monster especially the eyes. And nice work on the people's action poses, turning to run etc. ;)

ColtyPolk: Don't be discoraged by the quality editing, I think the guy looks quite good, but the box and the monster need some work. Nothing wrong with the BG...apart from there isn't one. Lol. :p

richiewu1986: Love the astronaut's expression and clothing. :) Colour might be good next DSG. ;)

Seraph Fawkes: Action shot FTW. Like the guys, but I think the monster's body could have more stuff going on. ;)

Dan Levy: Lol at the man caught mid way. For some reason I think I would shoot first before running. I don't mean with a gun. ;)
Think the monster could be more sefined, but creepy blackness does have it's appeal.

X@V.: Love it man, but I think I'd still love to see that thick brushstroke style in your sketchbook here too. ;)

SGR: Looks nice, but a bit small. :P Good work on the ship. ;)

idiot-monarch: Guy with the torch has the stomach for a security guard lol. :) I think it's nice, but I would have given the torch a bigger part you know, look at the lighting in goran's and X@V.'s to see what I mean. Love the creature's smile. :sungod:

Keep up all the great work guys, I'll start going again here once I find a decent tablet.

;)
