View Full Version : The Story Behind Your Nickname

I've been thinking about this the past couple days as I've seen some very odd, and some fairly normal nicknames floating around this place. So what I would like to know from all of you is, how did you dream up the name you use here??

Here's the story behind ScaryPotato...

When I was younger, I would spend all afternoon after school watching cartoons, and was especially fond of Duck Tales. A little while down the road, Darkwing Duck replaced Duck Tales, and although it wasn't quite as great as Duck Tales, it was still better than most of the other choices.

One episode in particular dealt with a mad scientist (whose name escapes me), that was bringing plants and veggies to life to serve as his minions, and as I recall he created several monstrous vampire potatoes to catch Darkwing Duck. The thought of a vampire potato made me laugh to myself because potatoes are never all that scary. The decision was made right there that it'd make an excellent nickname and ever since then (the late 90's) I've used ScaryPotato for an online name...

Now it's your turn! Let's hear your story :)

I was really in the the music of Paul Van Dyk & Arrmin Van Burren a few years back. The Cool part was just to feed my ego. I figured if I had the word Cool in my name, it might convince people that I was.

I've been curious about a few peoples names as well, just out of casual thought.

I just picked Ookchk because it sounded cool and silly at the same time. It doesn't actually mean anything. And I only use it on CA, most other places my user name is my first name - Karyl.

Pezz

My last name is Pezzillo. Nobody could ever seem to get it right, especially when I lived in Kentucky. So in High School, I was called "Pezzle/Pez". This stuck and became my nickname from all my friends who called me "The Pezz, Pezzle or Pezzles". I also adopted Pezzle as my online gaming login, most noteably my Counter-Strike name.

I have used this name when all there was on line was BBS sights. At the time I was playing FASA Star Trek RPG constantly. IKV Nexis = Imperial Klingon Vessle Nexis. I haven't played a game in years but I have used this name so much I can't be bothered changing it.

Initials =) pretty boring, I know, however, I have simply been called kab (pronounced with elongated "a", not like cab) for the better part of my life, short and easy to say. =p

I'm apparently not very creative in this aspect, but I usually just call myself my real name on the internet, could never be bothered to think of a witty and original username.

So yeah, AsaB is my first name (Ása) and the first letter of my middle name (Bryndís). Simple as that!

It was a stupid replacement name, and it stuck.

My old username I used to use everywhere was theoryC. I don't remember what that was supposed to mean, and I don't really like it anymore (although there are a few places that I haven't been able to break free of it). Now I go either by my first name, Ian, or by Liffey. I don't really know why I chose it, I just heard the word used in a song and thought it sounded nice I guess.

I wanted to have a name that reflected my crazy style that shows up in my artwork from time to time, and my warped sense of humor. My last name was Cross, but I didn't want to use my real name because there are too many people out there with same name. So, hence, Mad Cross. Not that I'm angry a lot...just a little crazy.

leighdude
August 5th, 2009, 06:10 AM
my nickname was a result of many different instances of 420 smoking. I don't know how they came up with it, but leighdude seems to flow well!
