newborn: tree of life

hmm, my first post here~

well, I decided to finaly join this forum and I came across this contest. Of course I had to give it a shot.

So this is my take on the newborn theme. I'm looking for constructive critiques before I move on.
Right now it's drawn on manila paper that just won't scan the right color. I think I'm going to end up transfering the drawing to regular paper and CG it instead.

this looks great...I cant wait to see how you are gonna render this... Question are you going to render the hair of the parents as moss or leaves? I think moss would look interesting

I was thinking about making the hair leaves, but I had moss on my mind too. I'll probably do tests both before deciding which one I like best.

After neglecting this drawing for a little too long, I finaly resumed working on it.

So there's the lineart. I'm scared I overdetailed a little bit. Hopefully the colors are going to give it a little more balance. I'll be using my trusty prisma colors to color this since the conte that I was planning on using is way too dark. I also played around with colors in photoshop to make the paper the right color.

I think I'm done with it. I might do some minor editing before the deadline, but all the main stuff's there.
