Newborn - Muse - Birth of an Idea

People are really getting some great feedback on their Newborn entries here! I want in on this...

My question for you is this: is it clear what's going on with the shed skin? Or do we need to see some facial features on the skin to make it more instantly recognizable for what it is?

CONCEPT: To me, the Muse is the personification of this theme. We artists can't always control when we get struck by inspiration, but when we do, we have no choice but to follow its whims. When we create, we give birth to something divine.

Nice ! The color and lighteffect on the tail is great.

I cant really say something, maybe just some more experimenting on the picture.

Thanks, it means a lot to me. But I want crits, too!

That first one burned me out a bit, though. Just some minor changes for now, then I'm going to put it away until I have a fresher eye.

I'm working on the stages of development for this week's COW to go along with this. So I've got a sketch ready for my little brain baby.

Well, I don't think the first two panels are going to be included with my main entry, but here they are anyway:

1) Conception: The Muse first forms as a spark of inspiration in the synapses of the right side of the brain. This initial spark has extradimensional origins.

2) Development: The Muse continues to grow. It has a spiritual effect on the brain that inspires artists, musicians, and writers to create. When a person creates a work of art, it ignites sparks of inspiration in others, and thus, more Muses are born. This is a mutually beneficial relationship with no negative side-effects. (Although there are some who argue that the Muse's presence is the reason that creative-minded individuals are more prone to mental illness (http://health.howstuffworks.com/genius3.htm)).

3) Birth: When the creative individual dies, their Muse sheds its human skin (figuratively speaking) and ascends to places unknown.

I don't think you need to add facial features, the image is quite clear. What about making the shed skin a different color to appear more dead (when snakes shed their skin it loses all color). Just a thought.

Very stylish indeed, Christina.
I'd almost be tempted to order them from the bottom to the top though, so that as the imago emerges it is flying free. Just a thought.
