I just got a graphics tablet. The problem is the pressure sensor goes nuts and it puts heavy solid lines outta nowhere. I'm hoping this isn't a hardware problem. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Its a Wacom Intuos II 6x8 if that helps any

Hi,

I have an Intuos 2 6 x 8 tablet also and it works just fine.

You probably need to open the Wacom Properties control panel, click the Tip Feel tab and set the pressure.

Read the Help.pdf and the Manual.pdf that come with the tablet installation. That'll explain how to set up your tablet.

Depending on the program you're using, there are ways to set pressure there too.

In Painter, for instance, use Edit > Preferences > Brush Tracking and paint a brushstroke using your normal pressure, then click the OK button.

Also in Painter, brush variants can be set to respond to pressure.

You can read about Painter pressure settings in the Painter User Guide.

The pressure seems to be steady and normal except for sudden spikes.

Mine is the same way too.

Sometimes mine will even turn off suddenly. I hope its the USB card, as reinstalling the drivers and restarting seems to help. But I feel your pain.

A couple of other things that may help:

1. Keep your tablet several inches away from your monitor as it can cause interference if the monitor's too close to the tablet.

2. Close other programs while working in Painter, Photoshop, or whatever program it is where you're doing your artwork.

Good luck, and Happy New Year! :)
