I use a papermate and I just can't stand it anymore. Does anybody have a good ballpoint pen that they can recommend?

quick, where's that thread where that one guy was totally obsessed with ballpoint pen art?

the cheapest 50 cent Bic pen does it best for me (I just do outlines).
It sometimes smears which can be avoided if you are careful but I have seen how people did incredibly detailed, perfectly shaded and amazing drawings with it.

Yup. Here it is. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=134850&highlight=ballpoint+pen+art

I'm not obsessed, lol.

Anything by Zebra is good...also be sure to try the "fine point" ones. Also Pentel RSVP is not bad either.

I only use Bic Crystal, and I do exclusively ball point pen art.

oh, your thread is cool and useful, I meant some weird thread where the author was writing page long essays about the history of ballpoint pen art, I think it was also mentioned in the "worst of CA" thread

I'm afraid I only use pencils from Caran Dache. IF their pencils are anything to go by, then I'd say their pens will be good as well.

I know I'm late to the party, but I also recommend the Zebra pens. Specifically, I like the Zebra F-301, which I can buy from Walgreens whenever I need to!

Cheap ass bic are pretty good at not gumming up. Or cheap papermate, is it? haha Thin blue case... Anyway, those cheap pens are really good for rendering like pencil, as the ink is dry.
