In case anyone might like to see a bit of what "gets you in" these days..
The reel is mostly pro stuff, and to be honest 50% of getting hired these days is timing.

ummm, no offense dude, but thats not at all an example of "what gets you in". thats more of an example of "what you create ONCE you're in". you're gonna scare these budding animators away!

I'm kinda in agreeance with Daniel here. Any chance us small timer University students could get a glimpse of that got you into the studios that produced high budget movies?

Edit: On that note though, cause I tend to jump the gun on hitting the submit button all to often, really great stuff.

Its nice seeing your reel. Though its not at all surprising that a reel like that would get you in. Its not as if Sony is small potatoes. I agree with the above post in that what got you into Sony would be the more useful thing for beginning animators.

Nice animation though, especially the surf's up stuff.

True, its not a student reel.. but hopefully useful knowledge... Its seems like these days student reels won't get you right in to an animating position at disney or pixar but it could get you into the training program... not to say that it can't happen, if they're really struggling to find animators and have then high need. but thats not the reality of the business right now. Sony is more friendly to students.. they're cheap and happy to work.. not yet jaded.. fresh, eager.. great attitude.. and they do give you shots right off the bat. I started at sony in 2003 (I'll try and dig up the reel off some old hard drives) the reel included a few shots from this film as well as some exercised.. (someone happened to post my film on youtube... I dont know who they are.. but whatever i dont mind) I used only 2 or 3 shots from the film as I thought most of it was animated sort of hastily at the time.. (even more so now.)

it was six years ago.. sort of embarassing (like posting drawings from 6 years ago ya know) but maybe it will teach somebody something who knows.

and thanks for liking the current reel.. or current before "Bolt" at least
