so I did the song "our hell" by emily haines, focusing on the line "my throat will ache, watching you turn from me towards your friends" and took the feeling of that line and tried to put it into my painting. let's just say it's a little bit of a self portrait too.

I chose "You never wash up after yourself" by Radiohead...tried to convey the feeling of isolation and loneliness in the song. Didn't want to put a border around it as I kinda wanted to make it look like a photo but I guess rules are rules...
i must get out once in a while
everything is starting to die
the dust settles the worms dig
the spiders crawl over the bed
i must get out once in a while
i eat all day and i now i am fat
yesterday's meal is hugging the plate
you never wash up after yourself

Once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain,
There was a town where the people known as Happyfolk lived.
Their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world,
Obscured as it was by great clouds.
Here they played out their peaceful lives,
Innocent of the litany of excess and violence that was growing in the world below.
To live in harmony with the spirit of the mountain called Monkey was enough.

(one black sweater)
(two people's memories)
(after the rain)
(it's even harder to forget)
(forget that I still love you)
(again I'll say I love you)
(maybe the rain won't stop either)
(the black sweater)
(where is it hidden?)
(then let all the memories always stay there)
Bah. Scribbled this out because I know I won't have time in the next couple of days.

All of these look great! I only wish I could of had free time to pull out my pens and get after this topic! Hmm... I'd give some critique but I'm running against the clock here!
My personal take on this would of been either Attack of the Killer Tomatoes by the Big Phat Band or Mothership by Parliament Funkadelic. Oh well, they'll just be personal projects I 'spose. :)
I love these illustations; great job to all of y'all that submited! :D
a la bapsi

Voted for Linguini's entry.
There are definitely some anatomy errors, but they didn't take away from the mood of the piece at all.
Gorgeous. Great interpretation.
