I'll have another thread for finished concept art and illustration, but since I also love portraiture and figure drawing, I'm creating this area as well.

I hope this folio section will help others better judge where I'm coming from artistically, and how to weigh my critiques and comments.

I work in a variety of media and styles, from painterly realism to graphic illustration or comic style.

I thought I'd start with some portraits, the reddish one is in a medium called Sanguine, which is actually more about the color technique than the medium. You work with a specific colored pastel pencil on a specific colored paper, with white for the highlights. The second piece (Capri) is in charcoal.

If you like the portraits, I have a few of my other personal and academic works at http://www.beware-of-artist.deviantart.com

I want to use the CA portal for Concept Art and new works, generally, so I won't be posting many older pieces in here. I have works posted at other sites already for personal work and fine art, but as I said, I wanted artists here to know where I'm coming from while I build my network of contacts and friends in here.

I decided to start a reply thread for my digital pieces, so they'd list together at the bottom.
Had some time to kill in the middle of the day today while waiting for someone, so I painted this wave study for fun.
Using a steam powered laptop, and one of the standard brushes in Photoshop 7, no photo reference on this one, but I've done a couple studies of waves before.
I only spent around three hours on it, and for me, that's speed painting.

This is almost a year old, but I'm still picking at it. We'll see if I get the guts up to touch it anymore, but her shirt seam bugs me, even those that's where it was on her shoulder, it makes the right arm look too assymetrical.

Life at the Dub Dub is much the same as always. Hope all is well with you, too. Looks like your work is coming along.

I guess technically this is an Illustration instead of fine art, but the traditional watercolor medium makes it a nice gallery style piece, so...

This piece was inspired by a one sentence long short story.

"I'm dead, I missed you, kiss..." Neil Gaiman

Watercolor painting on cold press watercolor paper

Original size 31 x 41 cm. (about 12 1/8 x 16 1/8 in.)

I really love the picture of the girl with the dreadlocks. Is that charcoal? Excellent work.

Yes, it is charcoal. Good eye. Thanks.
