Ok first Wolverine is i think 250, about, aleast thats what i think from his samauri days.

And umm the only 2 mutants with helmets are magneto and Juggernaught, and seeing how magnetos doesnt effect his power... Its just a stupid question the way you asked it and besides the most powerful mutant is Phoenix.

Yes, wolverine was born in the mid 18oo's, I concour. Further more, I cannot remember the exact trade paperback, but captain america remembers fighting with logan ( then named james) in world war I.
And phoenix is the most powerfull mutant but that is also the entity known as phoenix's greatest downfall.

they had wolvie and zelot fighting in WW2 in the wildstorm/xmen crossover too
