I just received the two books and they are fantastic. Took some pictures and here they are.

Lots of great concept art, character designs, environment painting but captions are brief.

Holy crap, I hadn't realized that WoW had put out a book for Lich King. I saw the Halo one and it rocked my world.

Has the Lich King book come out outside of the collector's edition? I really wanted to check it out, but I wasn't going to spend $70+ for a collector's edition just for the book.

I took a moment at barns and noble the other day to have my eye catched by the WoW lich king book I ripped open the plastic covering and started to induldge. It has a great Artic scheme but on the overall it wasnt what i was familiar with when viewing world of warcraft art. This is a very conceptual book. I think on the overall i would say half of it is very undefined and very dream like. You know those images when you wake up and there kinda fuzzy but the shape is still there. Im just throwing this out there incase anyone is considering this its not like all the full out renderings you have seen of past world of warcraft. Either way it was really great to look at. I would have loved to have read it up.

Those books look fantastic. I never tried going out and getting videogame art books since they're normally coupled with special editions and pre-orders.

I'm going to see if I can pick those up tomorrow while I'm out job hunting.

Actually, the one that comes with the CE is completely different than the one pictured here, you can buy the one pictured at just about any bookstore that carries artbooks.

I'm gonna have both once I save up enough money, but the one that comes with the CE was pretty okay. :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, and if you noticed this I apologize, but the artbook pictured is only for the opening cinematic (says "The Cinematic Art of WoW" on the front). The artbook contained in the CE is for the game itself, but there were parts of it that I wasn't overly impressed with. It looked like some of the pictures they used were not quite hi-res enough for printing, and so the brushstrokes came out blurry and made the artists' skills look less impressive. That being said, it's an interesting artbook and I don't regret getting it 'cos I'm a huge WoW fan, but you probably won't be any worse off for getting just the one for the cinematic; it looks to be higher quality and it's definitely bigger and more in-depth.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I liked the cinematic, but I'm far more interested in seeing the concept art of the expansion.
