SSG Challenge #01 : Character design

Well dudes, this is our challenge thread ! So here you will see challenges, deadlines, ressources, tutorials, ... as well as our challenge's pieces, our work in progress, our advices ! So i hope it will be fun, and that there will be a good participation at it !

A self portrait, or a time scaled figure study. 2 hours?

A self potrait would be very nice, or maybe a design for a futuristic vehicle/spaceship. Thanks for the warm welcome to the ssg guys.

weve gotta do the imagination stuff too, we could do the thunderdome thing, we all get together at one time (if we can differing time zones might fuck that one) pick a topic and say weve got 2 hours to work on it the best we can, then after 2 hours we post whatever we've done.

(dosnt have to be 2 hours though :P )

Well, I was more thinking about doing creative stuff, but why not start by a selfportrait :)
Nrx : your idea of " speed challenges" looks great, but it will be difficult to be al online here at CA at the same time, without tlking about time zones, which don't help us ! Anyway I think we could give a try to see if all happens good I think we need to find an hour when all of us have free time !
Well, i think the best way is that we each of us successfuly choose a challenge's topic, and why not starting by Sketchz ? ( or we could do first the selfportrait, and after the Sketchz' challenge !! )

Well dudes, It's time to start !!

SSG CHALLENGE #01 :CHARACTER DESIGN

Challenge : We have to do about 10 character's thumbnails, or silhouetes, and we have to chosse between these 10 thumbnails the best 2 and develop them ! One in b&w, and one in colors !

Media : free tu use what you want !

Deadline : 31 december 2008 at midnight GMT, that means midnight for Nrx , 1 am for bigfootrooper and me, and about 7 am ( i'm not sure ) for Sketchz ! Istill don't know where you live Fraz !!!

So I hope you will like this challenge, and hase fun with it !

I'm loking forwad too see your work ! I'll also ask to CA admins to activate the " manage attachment" tool in the challenge arena section !

After this challenge, we have two choices : either start a new challenge for the new year, or wait the next monday to start new challenge, and we will be synchronized again with the week ( that means deadlines will be every sunday midnight ! )

Anyway, we have 3 more days to continu what we have started, and for sketchz, you will be able to work your characters with advices we give you !

One more thing : don't hesitate to post your work in progress here !

the girls face is reffed a bit, but I didn't follow it exactly I hope that's not a problem
I'm not really happy with my end result, but whatever it was fun.

Nice piece sketchz ! Well, like everybody slack because of christmas and New year, I think it will be better if we move the deadline to the 1rst january ! I allready spoke about that to bigfootrooper and Dan , but i still don't have the tips from sketchz and Fraz !
