Hey everyone, my name is Mike, and I've recently taken a large interest in art- through the use of google I found this awesome forum :P
Just turned 14, and just got a Wacom Bamboo fun tablet. Great combo!
A promise to everyone on these forums: I'll be posting a picture daily/ every time I post. This will help keep me actually drawing, as opposed to messing around on the forums :teeth:
Without further ado, here's one of my first pictures done with my tablet( used a reference photo, from a website I can't remember):

C&C is always appreciated, but here's my thoughts- I don't like the way the dress came out, but I couldn't find a good brush to use- does anyone know where to get extra brushes for corel painter essentials 3? Also, I have a nude version of this picture, which I felt was better, but I'm not sure about the rules of posting nude pictures ;)
So, if you read all of that, thanks for your time, hope you have a good day :)
P.S.
The concept art forums rock :D

Hey! Welcome to CA!
Seems like you have a solid plan as far as this sketchbook goes. Here are a couple of quick suggestions:
-Study a bit of anatomy. This is something that I really need to do a bit more of as well. I recommend the Andrew Loomis books for learning. They're public domain now, and I'm pretty sure that there's a link to downloadable versions somewhere around here (if you look hard enough).
-I think what makes the dress look a little weird is that it isn't outlined like the rest of her features and also has more texture. Did you paint it over the nude version? The trick is to make things look consistent, so if she is outlined, then so should the dress be.
By the way, CA has absolutely no problem with nudity (actually, it's all over the place here), so you don't really have to worry about anything to that effect. Post away!

Awesome, thanks for the fast reply and pointers- they're appreciated :)
I'll be sure to look around for those books on here, I definitely could work on my anatomy. Also, you're right- the dress was sloppily thrown on because I didn't want to get banned on my first post for nudity :P
I was trying to make it smooth, sort of like silk, but I couldn't quite get it right, and for some reason black and white pixels kept popping up. Anyways, here's the nude version:

Again, thanks for your comments, I'll be sure to post up more pictures later tonight :)

I agree with chriskot, deffonately a good place to start is to go out and study what happens in real-life.
My flatmate has a Wacom Bamboo tablet, very purty and shiny. Rather jealous as I have a cheap assed graphics tablet, ah well!! =P

Alright, thanks Gail, I'll be sure to try that for my next couple drawings- I wasn't sure what everyone was saying because I don't have access to the internet at work :(
And yes, I love my tablet :) $150 for the tablet, pen, mouse, painter essentials 3, photoshop elements 4, and some other random program lol. Yay for not having to pay student fees :P
Here's a quick sketch of a ball:

Here's another picture of a girl... sorry for all the nudity people >.>
I tried to put a bikini or something on this picture for a while, but I can't make clothes look even half- decent.

Any comments and crits are much appreciated, and I'll be sure to try some real-life objects for the next couple sketches. I also promise not to have nudity on the next woman sketch i do :P
