So some friends said I should just post blindfolded. So some how I am typing all this clearly! Naw, I had a stigma of posting unfinished work. So I am just diving into the fire with this.

Essentially the basic concept is I am making someone I know from my school into a fire spirit version of HER. Yes, female fire spirit. If at least the face looks like a women/girl then I have not failed so far. I will ask her permission later to post up the photo reference we took of her. If not....use your imagination *wiggles fingers in the air*
Though you can somewhat see a sneak peak of the reference photo in the background. Still not enough to really compare to the life size head bust.

Those that know how to make life size sculpts can pretty much skip this part:
I started out with a plastic mold pre-made by my sculpting teacher (because not a lot of time to do the skull and then the face on top of that) to make the concept small size concept sculpt. Unfortunatly never really finished it, again time management.

The life size sculpt was made with styrofoam before laying in the clay, and the eyes are made of plastic.

I am pretty much at the part where I need to make the hair. Thus why the digital thumbs are last, cause I am at that point in the sculpt. Of course that should have ideally been worked out before, but I could never come to a decision. The overall design is meant to be non-symetrical to some extent. The model had an accident with her collar bone and she has this natural tilt in her should. I thought to incorporate some of that in the sculpture. SO! Any ideas where I should go with it?

so far so good. for overall shape you might take a look at vegeta from dragonball z, the anime. then you would definitely want to add flow and movement to it add some sweep. or maybe follow the natural way your models hair moves, like take a picture of her with a fan blowing her hair back. or maybe i should just shut up and let you sculpt...

Thanks for the reply. Ha, I kind of want to stray away from the Vegeta. That idea on modeling after her hair in the wind is actuelly something I have not thought of. Thanks a lot! I'll experiment with that. I'll have some pictures of that model with more thumbs according to your suggestion.
