Kane inspired Catwoman - clay study

This one was a challenge and a half. Tried to be true to his deisgn concept and still tweak it up. Not sure if it worked on not, but as it fits solidly into the sh*%ts and giggles catagory, no harm, no foul...

Beautiful work! It does have a very "Golden Era" feel to it. I think you pulled it off. Are those nails in the eyes? Makes them come alive, very nice!

Thanks! Nope, no nails. Just little pieces of clay made flat with a wet tool so the clay doesn't stick.

I probably missed it, but what's the medium? I was thinking wax all along, but see where you mention "clay" for the eye highlight.

You're really doing Bob Kane's work justice with these. Each one has a rich sense of emotion and character. And of course the eyes are just tremendous successes in their own right.

With all these Batman-inspired studies, will we be seeing some figures appearing in this thread soon?

All the studies were done in Chavant Medium NSP.

I recently got a wonderful book on Houdon and have been trying to figuire out how the hell he did what he did. So, I've kind of got a bug up my butt workong on heads of various characters trying to work out expression/characters. I'm moving off of Mr. Kane and am going to try tweaking up a good old fashion classic monster... the sh*%ts and giggles continue!

Great stuff man. Really enjoy your work. I remember a teacher at my art school discussing Houdon for over an hour one day... and he was just talking about how well he sculpted hair! LOL seriously that guy was incredible.

I would only make the cat ears more pointy, cause right now they look more like bear ears. and remind me of the lost boys from peter pan.

Yep. They do. But its the way he drew her for some reason. She didn't get "cat" ears until someone else took over drawing her. But, admittedly, an odd look with those rounded ears.
