Hey everyone,
Just wanted to show what I've been playing around with. I'm designing creatures based on the premise that "Foo" dogs or lions weren't actually either, but seen at a glance may have appeared as such. Hope that makes sense... So here're the first two, a lion and tiger. Thanks everyone!

I actually have a pair of small Foo lion statues that flank the front of my Chinese sculpture display. What you've crafted here are by far a more alien, more fantastic concept than the traditional depictions seen in curio shops and restaurants.
As usual, tremendously inspiring work.

impressive and refreshing take on traditional sculpt! you could also take a interest in the traditional 4 sacred beast (or Rui Shou)- dragon, pheonix, qi lin and turtle like beast :)

Here are some updated shots of the Foo lion beast. I've decided that for the base, he's going to be walking mostly on clouds, as if he's stepping down from the heavens. Let me know what you all think.

Very cool concept, and thus far excellent execution. The detail on the body in the second set of pictures is amazing.

This is coming along great! The idea you have for the base might be my favorite part, very unique. Can't wait to see more!

I've been a fan of your female characters for a long while (your Vampire Bat Girl and Spider Queen rank as personal favs). This project seems like a tremendous departure from your previous work and these photos reveal all manner of positive decisions that are coming to life.
The muscles in the legs, the tentacle-like mane, the conceptualization of the heads - they're all just bristling with "I wish I'd made that."
Will the second lion have a unique body-type of its own or will it reflect the design of the first?

Wow! I really love the design and concept behind it! :D Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I'm excited for the clouds, too... If you're going to paint it, what sort of colors are you thinking of?

Did you use sculpey, bake and add more or is that some kind of very dark clay?

MurphAI-Yes, I would do a portion in Sculpey, bake, and then add more. I think I've baked this guy about 5 or 6 times so far.
