Here are some shot of my new Maquette I call "The Collector", the basic concept is that he is a minion, a worker for a vast hive of similar beings, his main aim to collect humans to be processed back at the hive.

The model is the first in a series of 3 I am making

The Collector

The Imbiber

The Hive Mind

These pictures show the maquette near the end of sculpting, and some pictures of the model some way through the painting i will post some finished pictures soon!

Enjoy.

Hey looking good as is so it's going to be even greater to see it when you've done all the detail painting too.

Warning a lot of bla bla ahead

finally after so many views someone has an opinion

see it more of a good sign so many views and none has come up with any crits to make it better. Especially on these forums where many rather write a crit than say hey looking good...which sometimes good and sometimes bad since good people stop posting since they kind of get the silent treat.

Anyway with so many people coming and disappearing on these forums one got be quite a persistent and frequent poster to get noticed. I used to post more before and got a lot more replies now I don't which means way less replies.

Cheers mindflaw! great to hear it!

YEH there is alot more painting to be done, going to add some gloopy saliva type substance to the mouth area and get some fine detail work in around the eyes and the viens! gona be pretty gruesome I imagine, cheers for the advice!
I will update this asap when i have it finished.

all the best

wow, that looks great. so many models are let down by the paint job, but you seem to have the whole package wrapped up!

i think, as mentioned above, you've just got to plough on with this particular forum. it seems to have much lower traffic than the 2d ones.

some times all it takes is for the first few comments to be posted and then they catch on like wildfire.that happened with both of my threads. great job on this piece btw! you are a very talented dude. how did you do the paints on this guy? anyways keep up the good work!

Your paint job really steered this in another direction for me. The legs do seem a bit "bendy" from that first photo, but I'm willing to believe not all monsters have to share a common bone structure. And the coloring you've given this gives it a very earthy/vegetative feel - almost like a dryad of sorts (the ent-like kind, not the tree maidens). With your treatment of color, I read the beast as being perhaps appendaged with vine-like limbs - hence the flexibility.

Looking forward to seeing the other additions to this series.

way better than what?

Way better than CRAP!

Naw, just kidding. I was just a bit underwhelmed by the design. Looks too much like a Halo meets Spawn monster. (Not that it's bad... just been done before... not that being done before is bad... well, you get the idea.) But seriously, the paint totally makes it great.

Wow thanks alot for all the appreciation! Mox3d that comment made me laugh :)

Breath of Life i see your point, and thank you for the nice comment!
There are so many influences and creature designs out there, its so hard to come up with something completely different and original, My next model is underway will post some WIP pics in a new post soon! look out for it

Beautiful work, I love the way you colored it. Very "spawnish" with your own flare. Amazing can't wait to see the next ones!

Ok its been a while i know, had alot on at the moment, but here are some WIP pictures of a creature I am calling "The Imbiber", part of the same species as the Collector (above), but this one has evolved for its purpose of laying eggs (containing poor humans) to feed the rest of the hive colony! mwhahahahahahahahahahahaha...

So here you go feast ur eyes on this gross monster!

You get a really good organic feeling. I like the scales and the line-structure. Btw your paint on the last one is very fitting and alien-like!

wow.. love the designs of these freaks. These must took some planning. Looking at your concept drawings, the Imbiber got some scrawny legs, I hope he doesn't fall over in the end. Can't wait to see it finished!

Well, the paint on the first one really lived up to what I was "hoping" for while scrolling down the pics, I must say, it looks really really pro.

The 2nd sculpture really meshes well with it being in the same species. I also really enjoy the structure and details of the face/head with those tendrils extending out. Goes without saying I can't wait to see this one painted as well!

Aseyngel: Thanks man, appreciate it!

Taurn 7: Yeah he has scrawny legs as hr does not do much walking, I kinda imagine him connected to a hive wall alot of the time.
I will thicken them up a bit on the model tho, just for stability! ha ha

Wiggins: Thanks mate glad you like, Hoping to have this one painted by this time next week, he is gonna be really slimey tho, lots of gloss and maybe even some latex for dripping slime etc, should be fun to paint.

Anyway cheers all for the comments, gonna get back to working on it now.
