Final Poll: P.O.W.! 11-A: Strange Bedfellows

Again, I left this one run a little late to polling to allow any stragglers time to get in. We've got four entries this trip totaling 12 pages. I was expecting a better turnout (including myself), but I don't know if it's lack of interest, too many things going on, or the subject matter/topic. Still, congratulations to everybody who fought their way through to the end. The voting will be open for roughly two weeks. Vote for one artist, and just to remind you--the theme is "Strange Bedfellows," with any interpretation you felt appropriate to your story. The art could have been either black and white or color, so don't let that sway your vote, and the stories do not have to be "complete" as such, though they should make sense to at least a degree that we can follow them. I included one that is incomplete because I thought the beginning was a good start...

Artists are posted in alphabetical order...

All I can do is speak for myself Ilaekae; and for me it is too much stuff going on plus a lack of prescription meds. The self medicating just gives me headaches in the morning!

Great stuff this round...I think Chate Noire nailed the topic, the panels are dynamic, and the artwork is phenominal.

Eh...I'm takin' a lot of the blame for lack of entries lately. I've been bein' beat up trying to make major repairs to my house and i'm just not as young as I used to be, so it's takin' a lot longer than it should. When I get a bit settled, I'll be able to rabble rouse a bit more...

I picked Chate Noir, but it was not an easy decision. All had their merits.

Arttorney's was funniest and naughtiest.
Wiltekirra's had the most interesting and unusual story. As a story I liked it best.
Prometheus has a great style and narrative flow, and had it been a complete story I might have put it first.
Chate Noir's was the tightest and most professionally presented, and I think that should count on an art forum - though as someone commented before, it's a story we've seen before.

Well done, everybody!

Voted for Wiltekirra. Nice lines and good storytelling, and I like how you kept your main character looking the same throughout the pages. Maybe it's something you keep for the inking stage, but I personally think some cleverly placed blacks could add tension and drama here.

Prometheus, your pages rock too. I love the colors in the first page, and I wish you'd finished the 3rd and 4th. Beautiful panel with the worm's eye view of the girl on page 4.

Voted for Chate_Noir of course, because it's perfect! I can see no single critique point in these three pages. Plot, panelling, inks... there was a pro at work.

Follower up is wiltekirra, because I love the faces and the style... the red ink comes in quite nice. Maybe you shouldn't desaturate three of the pages while leaving one at paper colour next time...

I voted for Chate Noir for the art.
For the kids at home: never light cigarettes at night on the battlefield. It could be hazardous to your health.

Voted for the Chate, because it's pretty awesome. I like it a lot. I'm not participating in P.O.W.'s atm because my computer is almost finished. I've been saying this for months now, but I can't afford a new one right now.

It has now taken over 15 minutes and 2 crashes to post this reply, for instance. It's grand if I'm browsing but I just can't reply/upload etc.

Chate Noir = EPIC WIN. The main problem I had with it though was that I got to the end of the second page and was like "Whoah, that was awesome". Then I realized there was a third page which just turns it from a subtle message into a storyline with the subtly of hammer to the face.

It almost feels like you get to the end of the second page, go "Wow, that was cool" and then the comic book jumps up and goes "BY THE WAY FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T GET IT-". Loved the first two pages, loved the final panel of the second page, hated the third page.

I'll vote for Chate Noir! Classic story that never gets old. Story told so well with only sound effects and pictures! Gets the point across clearly! That, and most soldiers would rather share a smoke than shoot at each other...
