The BBC have commissioned Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn (the chaps behind Gorillaz) to produce the introduction to their coverage of the olympics, using Monkey: Journey to the West. I just found the animation on the BBC website. It's here, but if you can't see it it's also on Youtube. Very nice!

Awesome! I liked how they worked in all the sports into the clip. Not sure about the music, but cool nonetheless.

Gosh that brings back so many memories watching Monkey and Pig in the cinema late ‘60s. See they’ve toned down the cloud making machine.

They could have put some zombies with tongues reaching to their feet in, and it would have been perfect.

jamie hewlett has to be one of my favourite artists of all time, and now he's gone and taken on one of my favourite programs from my childhood! its like right now watching this - i'm having my cake, and eating it too! (and the crumbs are sweet.. oh so sweet)

awesome. however i do miss those old inane comics of his. i can only hope he or someone will bring it back

Saw this on BBC website and thought "Hmm... this looks just like Gorillaz. I wonder if it the same people?" :P I guess they were.
