Here's something you'll be hearing a lot about.

This amazing event called the Totoro Forest Project is a fundraising auction that has brought together over 200 distinguished artists from animation, comic books and illustration, to save the Sayama forest (aka Totoro Forest). Hayao Miyazaki used this forest as an inspiration for "Totoro". All proceeds will go to the Totoro no Furusato Forest Foundation, established by Hayao Miyazaki himself. This is the brilliant idea of Dice Tsutsumi, Ronnie del Carmen and Enrico Casarosa.

How does this work? There's an auction held at Pixar on September 6, 2008. There will also be a book produced collecting all the artwork involved in the project.

Check out their wonderful site for some mind blowing pieces !!--> TOTORO FOREST PROJECT (http://www.totoroforestproject.org)

I'm very honored to be a part of it.

Here is my "inner" Totoro... I did two pieces.
Title: Twins
Medium: Pen and Ink with Digital
Story: The blue gill-necked centi-plesiosaur is known for its inquisitive nature, sociable disposition, and extremely poor eyesight.

And here's the other...
I usually don't do many finished works traditionally but it's for a good charity.
Hope you like it.

Title: Dirty Job
Medium: Pen and Ink.
Size: 11x14 inches
Story: Help wanted: Enthusiastic individual, must love animals and working outdoors, no experience necessary.

Wow, those are seriously great. Totoro was one of my all time favorite movies and I had no idea there was a Totoro Forrest. It must have been damn nice to get to be apart of such a great project. I'm heading over to the site now, awesome stuff.

Hey Bobby,
Great pieces, very funny and cute. I wish I could have been a part of this Auction Fund Raiser as I love Miyazaki's films and this sounds like such a great cause. I'm always against tearing down large forests and populating it with condo's, apartments, houses, food markets, malls, parking lots, gas stations and crap. I was checking out the gallery of work, I didn't realize that a book will be produced so I'll keep my eyes out and definitely be picking that up.

As Baron Impossible mentioned, the lighting is really good and very effective. I like the quality and design of the creature in the sketch as well. Kind of a Caterpillar/Ant/Dog....

Wow... that's about all I got. Wow.

How can I get one of the Dirty Job creatures as a pet? I'll pay top dollar! TOP.

These are both full of personality and do a great job of capturing what you've described. My favorite is Dirty Job- I love the lumpiness of the critter and the premise is great!
