Hello,

I'm a graphic artist who has decided to refine what little illustration skills I have so that I may move my career more in that direction. I have taken life drawing and drawing classes in the past, but the subjects were always still. I was fairly capable of drawing what I was looking at as long as it didn't move. I've recently spent time trying to capture moving subjects at the park, but people move really fast when you are trying to draw them and I can't seem to take in any of the details or even the basic pose. I'm beginning to frustrate myself in an attempt to draw the figure in motion. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to help me proceed? :(

draw photos of people running.

on the imaginative side, study how a muscle contorts and how it moves throughout a entire movement and study weight and how the body shifts and leans as it moves.

also buy this book

then buy his others.

you have to use your imagination and figure out how the body works. hell record to vhs morning workouts and see how the muscles move, its all the same just with more impact more leaning and more weight distribution.

do what animators do, get a person running on one side of the paper and then get them on the otherside then draw in the motion inbetween. doesnt have to be brilliant, hell even use stick figures or block shapes.
