over the hollidays i vistited some family in Scotland (ex-pats)
i went ot the Glasgow Art Museum (Kelvingrove) and took these...
i took these myself ...i had little more than an hour sadly,
and i wish to profusely apologize for the lack of documentation or authorship of these pieces...i just went a little snapshot crazy...as i had never seen photography allowed to this degree.
here is a link to the museum/Gallery

Wow, thanks for these Kingshaj!
Many of these I recognise from the 'Glasgow Shool' - Hornel in his various stages. They were a terrific bunch of painters and still not properly recognised, being still overshadowed by some lesser Victorian talent.
Anyway, there are some images I have never seen before and they are simply beautiful. Thanks so much for posting them.......Have you got any more?

heres the sculptures!
the b/w ones where an attempt to retouch to bring out detail
the patina was so dark in addition to being behind glass.

That Geisha with her head turned *completely* knocked my socks off. Sooooo good.
The picture with the druids is by Edward Atkinson Hornel and George Henry. Its called The Druids Bringing in the Mistletoe from 1890. Also a great one!
Thanks for posting K-shaj!

Thanks again!
Is that an Eric Gill? - the mother and child?
Oh, and another question - The painting of the girl in front of the parasol (jpeg 14 I think) has three bands running vertically down it - was it being cleaned or something?

Wow - thanks for sharing!
The Rembrandt you mentioned... am I right in pegging that as the profile painting of the man in armor? If so, it's the companion piece to New York Metropolitan's "Bellona". I'm very happy to finally see it.

Great images!
Can anyone identify the painting in 2.jpg and 17.jpg, the one with the "dwarves" and the "satyr" (?) marching past the grass-covered boulder and/or fallen tree?

some great paintings. i'm goin up to glasgow in friday to look at their art college, so ill go check some of these out.
on a side note, for any brits interested in drawing sculpture, the main hall of the tate britain is filled with sculpture that they've kindly lit artfully from above at the mo, great for sketching and more in depth studies, and theres chairs out for long sittings to boot.

Yeah, the last painting on kingshaj's first post, "A Man in Armour" I think is the title.

Thanks Krossj, I thought so. What else could it have been really?
I recently saw the special Rembrandt et al exhibit at NYC. Beautiful but way too crowded for my taste... Rembrandt's "Bellona" has been in the Metropolitan collection for a long time and I read there that she had been comissioned with a companion piece "Mars", which is in the Glasgow museum.
I think the "Man in Armor" must be Mars. So thanks again for posting Kingshaj!
