this is the 'massive undertaking' i mentioned in the main thread, its an inkwash self portrait working from a photo, measuring 5 by 4 feet. its the largest thing ive ever done, and ill be posting the WIP's here if anyone cares to look/comment. oh and this is why some of my sp's for this week will suffer a bit, its gonna take awhile. the second photo is at 4 hours (i spent a long time on the line drawing).

ill have finished this in a bit under ten hours but for simplicity's sake ill just say '10'. only thing left is the left side of the page, any comments for what to do would be great. a light wash was the best suggestion i got so far.

also if anyone else does inkwash, put them up, id love to see them.

hey thanx for the comments guys. im almost finished with the second one.

killing.people-thanks for always replying to everything, you make it worth posting.

keyth-now if only my color mwork could make people faint

coriat-inkwash i when you take black india ink and dilute it in water to get gray tones. if you dont know what india ink is, its the stuff you put in dip pens, something else i use a lot. if you dont have any, id recommend picking some up, its a lot of fun.

Yes Jhibbs. Keep dropping updates, these are great! I'm sure these small images don't do the *real* piece justice.

It looks amazing. The only thing that bothers me is that the ear doesn't look as realistic as the rest of your face to me. It just doesn't look as developed as the rest of the picture. Either way I'm still jealous.

On another note, what was your process in doing this sp. The only other inkwash I've ever heard mentioned was by el coro in his sketchbook page and it seemed like he layed down one main color and then used colored pencils and gouche to pull out the forms. Is that what you did as well?
