View Full Version : Super Sculpey Question Please Help:(

Hey Everyone,
I'm new to sculpting ..
I've been using Super Sculpey mixed with Sculpey III (for color) and want to make a silicone mould
of the piece I'm working on.. I could bake it, but I don't want to.. Does Super Sculpey contain Sulfer..
I don't want to inhibit the cure process..

No, It does not....you would really smell it if it did :)

edit...the reason I say this is because I use both sulfur based Plasticine and Sculpey also. The 'Smooth on' Company does have a silicone product for casting with sulfur based clays if you were to need that though :)

Have you ever used Smooth-on Products with an unbaked sculpey piece with
success??

Thanks for the info..
Although I don't recommend not baking the sculpey I wanted to try to see if
I could get a really good mold using silicone and an unbaked sculpey sculpt..

My sculpt dried out and was ruined, but the mold came out great, and their
wasn't any adverse reaction between the silicone ( Platnium cured ) and the
clay..

Now my next question is what's the best way to cure dried out Super Sculpey..

You could probably bake the sculpture, and then fill in any cracks afterward. But usually, if I have some old sculpture that the sculpey is all dried out, I start all over.

That would probably be the best idea....if it is already on the armature and has dried out.
