I know that is why I ask. I am a grown man, I do not worry when i hear the work fuck or shit or tit, or whatever. I feel the beep is more offensive. Just wondering whether it was included with this one. Either way i would not care less, still a perfect product.

The image is already adult-ish material to begin with... we just thought the beep was funny for some reason. It wasn't meant to censor. I don't think I used it in the second one.

again i beleive the instruction was well done in this vid. I think all the laughs and giggles show why i feel language and subject matter should be considered (not censored) when making educational dvds.more people are commenting on the cussing than the quality of art. I think if these were made for all audiences it would be a better asset to the art community. the bloopers or what ever they are called again is a distraction expesially at the beginning cause i bough the dvds to learn drawing techniques not see how many tries it takes to say a sentance.

Since when did art need to be truly censored for all ages? Last time I went to the museum (was at the louvre last week), there were breasts and butts (and plenty of penis too) from top to bottom..and even sex. Puritanical beliefs will not be the driving consideration when we are creating content for this community.

Not everyone's vids have language and nudity in them...only nox so far...and he is French...and well...maybe that just comes with the territory. :)

funny how as soon as you start studying the female nude simply in art purposes, you are immediately thrown into a category of artists "banned" by so many.
bleah. it's just dumb.

If you watch Globe Trekker which is on the travel channel and on PBS. They visit Paris in one episode and go to the Louvre and actually blur out the genitals on the classical Greek/Hellenistic/Roman statues.

Its kinda sad really.

Oddly enough this can be seen all the way back to classical antiquity. Nude males where great in Greek times but god forbid you sculpt a nude female. Wasn't until Praxiteles comes along with Aphrodite of Knidos that we see a start to display the female nude. And even this sculpture was shunned from the town who commissioned it. He had to peddle it over at Knidos to sell it.
The nude female form has been a dangerous subject for a very very long time. Nude males have been to but to a smaller extent, more accepted in certain periods but just as depraved in others.
Donatello's David is another nude that was a first and an even riskier piece then Aphrodite of Knidos. If that sculpture had been made public both Donatello and Cosimo de' Medici would have been killed. It is even only glanced over in many art history classes and texts to this day because of its subject matter. Though it was the first free standing bronze sculpture since antiquity and the first nude in just as long.

tis dumb indeed but as artist we are the ones who must push the boundries and prevail.

just to clarify I see nothing wrong with nox video but someone else might. This forum is just the best place to post that if a 15 year old boy wants instruction that his mom wont throw away then this is not the video to get.... thats all nothing more. I just like to present the 'other side' sometimes cause some one may be looking for that

no, no, its the right thing to do.
the penis and the vagina are the tools of the Debil and should therefore be blured out or even better cut clean off.

I bought both parts and watched them, Cant say i regret it since it was rather cheap, but it kinda felt like the video wasnt really necessary.. Il get more out of just analysing the image files probably.

I enyojed it as entertainment, even tho I expected more of an effort to make it really interesting.

I have to say that at the beginning when i heard the first beep i was like "ohhh not not CA!!!! Hey're not the kind of ppl to do shit like that". then i posted a comment on this in the NOX thread and then i watched the rest of the vid and found the at the end they did not censor out some fucks. that was a relief. :D:D:D

I totally think that if this is what the artist is thinking while working on his work than it should be included. and the Nudity.....
ohh man, the more boobs and buts and pussies the better!!!!
If there are ppl out there that are bothered by the beauty of the human body they should be shot at sight (joking :D), they should just not buy the god damn video. I mean they've all seen the freakin screenshot. you know what you'll get!!! Plus SEX appeal totally sells!!!!

Just downloaded it a few days ago, took me a couple days to sit down and carefully watch both parts. I can't thank you guys enough for making these available, needed a Nox fix for a while. :oneye:

The only thing that bugged me was that the video lapses in a couple of places, like when the naughty bits were detailed, or the hand with the middle finger got reworked completely in the end. These are small quips though.

Can somebody explain the masking process used early during the video? I'm not familiar with channels and all that... seems like a quicker way than carefully cutting out and a pasting a portion of the image that you want to remain untouched.

Oh, and for that matter, can someone explain the LAB mode technique Nox uses as well? I couldn't really catch how this was properly activated.

Anybody? It would be nice to get more insight into the actual techniques shown in the video... in some ways, these are more important than watching the rendering process.

as far as your question about masks - they are just another way, not necessarily easier than any other. if you watch carefully he still had to use polygonal lasso to select the figure by hand in order to turn it into a mask. essentially it's no different than cutting out the figure and and pasting it onto a layer above the background, and then working on the background layer with the top layer (the one with the figure) still being viewable. hope that helps.

If you have Photoshop CS+ you have a little Icon just under your foreground/background colours in your toolbar. It's a circle inside a rectangle. if you click that one once you can "paint" in an area you want to select, that can be very quick and quite alot more accurate then any lassotool if you want to have presicion edges.

Once you "painted" in the area you want safe, you click the same icon again and it will turn into a sellection. Then you can either just paint on that area, invert it and paint outside, or cut and paste at will... even better, if you go to the menubar and go to "Select" you can choose to "save selection". You can then just "load selection" later to have the same area marked out again...you can save and load several selections.... quite usefull..

Thanks for the replies, Yutani and Colrouphobia. I just need info on the LAB mode/color dodge thing now... what's the advantage of this mode, and how did he get the effect he achieved? Switching from RGB to LAB doesn't seem to do much when I try it out. Thanks to anyone who can illuminate me.

awesome video, how do his brushes blend into eachother so well? His opacity and flow are all the way up, the hardness is 100%.. I dont get it.. why cant I do that with my brushes? Artistic level aside, I cant get that effect with my own brushes..

I have the same problem of FAM0USS in blending colors using Photoshop (i usually paint with Painter)!
Anyone can explain to me how NOX can blend colors this way whether the hardness is 100%?
Thank you.

Just set the opacity jitter to pen pressure. And use the colorpicker (alt/tabletbutton) along with lower presure to "inbetween" the colours.
Enabling the flow jitter also helps making things a little smoother. Lowering the flow on your brush also helps.

You MUST be kidding.
To repeat: the money made from selling videos and downloads goes directly to supporting this site. Anybody asking about, encouraging, or engaging in illegal sharing of CA dvds and downloads obviously doesn't support the site, and will be summarily banned.
