THE LAIR OF THE KEEPER
A demented zoo Keeper who breeds and infects animals with a RAGE Virus, turning them into Vicious beasts who obey only his command.

Morrigana
EOW#68 Super Villain's Lair, Final

The necromancer is a rather bored and decadent mage, finding peace only in the death of others.

"We were tasked to draw fire from the security teams, give Prichett and Gall a chance to rig the ignition sequence for an early blow. They did it all right, used his own rocket to cook the target before he could pack up and escape. We cleared the area, waited for the extraction bird. Damn, it was a quiet ride home. Every one of us wanted a personal piece of son of a bitch. You don't burn half a continent and die that easy."

gaius' definately feels villainous, good idea :) it hangs together as a painting pretty well. vote.

corrick - i liked the atmosphere in your painting, the depth and scale of the background are really nice - but i just couldnt figure out what was going on, how it was a villains lair, and exactly what everything was - second place :)

edujante and morrigana - both nice entries, i guess the 'throne' idea felt too obvious of a choice for me. edujante you have some nice colour choices in the background there.

all good works, cheers guys!

Voted for Gaius, good mood, scary as crap, etc.
Edujante, very nice throne, good environment, just needs to be bigger. I can't see anything!
Morrigana, the lighting is spot on and the scene is appropriately grim. The eyes in the background look like afterthoughts though.

Form, this is just what I ended up with. I think I had maybe ten or twelve different pre-concepts and an almost finished yet abandoned painting before this one. I like it though, but if it needs an explanation, obviously it has failed as a concept, right? Better luck next time.

Corrick: I was trying to get a looming feeling, like all the little scavengers waiting for the master's cast-offs. I'm just learning this whole environment concept stuff.

i would just like to say that ive been a HUGE fan of this website and these little "art competitions" that you have here.its pretty sad that only four were submitted for this topic as it had a lot of potential for a whole spectrum of ideas but i guess it quality over quantity as all of the presented pieces are really good.i just felt the urge to register finally on this site to say all this

Voted for Edujante. I had to zoom in to have a proper look at your concept as you posted it way too small.
There is some really nice touches and design details in there.

corrick I have to say that I didnt get a " villans lair " vibe at all, but leaving that aside the execution of the image is really really nice.I like the big turbine engine in the background.

Morrigana nice strong colours, maybe its too dark in some of the shadowed areas.

Thanks for your comments and crits guys always appreciated.

Exceptional work, guys. Corrick, you should consider writing science fiction novels and designing your own covers. Gaius, you're dominating as of late.

v - Gaius

Keep doing you

I was really torn on this one. Chaosrocks' entry really conveyed the sense of an evil lair, and was so well executed -and Corrick's entry has such a broad scope and alludes to unique villain.

Nice works!

Hopefully toss my hat in here soon.

I voted for Gaius. Simply love the mood of it.

A second for me was Edujante. I like the mood of it, but it could have had more of an environment. I guess to show the setting of the throne and whatnot?

Corrick: Yours is nice, but I don't get the super villain or evil feeling when I look at it.

Morrigana: Nice mood and colors; see my crit for Edujante above.

I love serious subtle enviroments. Corrick's painting oozes power and decadent science.
