Now THIS is a fucking topic. I am excited. Man, so many possibilities. Theres lots of kinds of storms and then you have to get into how it goes about bringing the storm. Awesome.

The first thing that came to my mind was something about a butterfly :D I'm not sure where I've read it but there's this 'theory' about a butterfly flapping its wings which causes a little turbulence in the air which then develops in a huge storm thousands of kilometers away...I think it was in the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy or something that I read about it :P

Hmm..yeah well thats my contribution..

yoitisi you mean the butterfly effect, ye its quite a common one, practicly any psy-fi book that delves into consiquences of life and crap like that, will mention it. it basicly means that no matter how small a thing you might do in life, and thats basicly everything, it will start off a chain reaction, and the consiquences could be major. becouse everything in life is linked to one another. Almost like karma, many religions also believe in the same sort of theory.

Hey everybody! I'm new here, but I've been lurking a little while. I think I'm going to do this one, so please tell me if I do something wrong.

(Also, a little introduction, you can call me Edie.)

Here is a sort of preliminary sketch idea thing. I'll probably go through a lot of these before I decide on one.

Please, lots of criticism, if you wouldn't mind!

after weeks of trying I finally have the time to work on one of these! Okay here's my WIP that I did this morning, took me ages. I still have loads to do but I'd appreciate any comments anyone has.

So far the concept is that the smoke produced by the fire becomes a raging storm that follows the creature wherever it goes. http://jadeautumn.deviantart.com/art/Phoenix-The-Storm-Bringer-64380586

Oooh, Edelia, I like what you have so far. Finish it. Sorry no crits, I have a hard time to critique sketches, unless they're made by someone who has a hard time getting anatomy right and such. :)

Also nice topic, sadly I probably won't be able to vote this time since I'm off to Germany. I would otherwise even consider entering because I actually have a decent idea of what I'd want a Storm Bringer to look like. ;/

The Lightning Deer as it is commonly called due to its glowing antlers and its ability to bring storm to it is a nocturnal creature that lives in unforested areas. When rain is needed this deer forms into herds and causes a chemical reaction to occur in its antlers. This chemical reaction heats the surrounding air and causes a low pressure area to be formed around it. This invariably brings storm fronts into the area. The antlers of this animal are highly prized, although an attack by one of these deer when the antlers are activated can cause third degree burns and be extremely painful anywhere the antlers make contact with skin. It is an amazing fact that more fires are not caused by this creature, but it seems that the deer can control the chemical reaction enough to ensure it does not burn its food source.

Angus, I like the idea behind yours, however, it doesn't come out proper because the values and colours are the same between the creature and the background, especially on the left side of the image.

Also, next time, to get more people viewing your image to give comments, try to link it as an image directly in the post. Sometimes people (myself included) just scroll down to see if there ar any new images. A link vanishes slightly if you do that.

I am by no means an expert, but as for the image I would probably work on the values of the creature, maybe add a bit of dark, warm (or cold) colours to the front of it, to give it a push.

I changed the tone and man did it help. Thanks for the crit!

From the sky it came, but the things origin is un-known. The clouds joined in sudden blackness gaining momentum with each passing second. The winds grew stronger. The air grew colder. And before the people could flee the storm was down upon them. First, it tore down their levees so that the ocean water would flood the land. Then it maliciously devoured their homes rendering many dead and all others without shelter.
The thing that wrought the devouring winds is known to the few who survived as a Storm Bringer. It is believed the thing is cast down from the gods to cut down the human population. The creature flies through the sky and captures storm clouds in its field of psychic energy. Because of the incredibly fast speed it travels the storms are left trailing behind. They join together becoming more and more powerful and then are released above a target area.

You could have started when the thread was put up, but it seems you missed reading past the topic title:

- The creature must be responsible for causing/bringing a storm

grenogs

read the rules uptop timmy, second line -" The creature must be responsible for causing/bringing a storm ". i think if the storm follows it, then it should ok, but im guessing, you can,t have stuff like a plague or frogs, or cats and dogs, becouse they are things the storm has picked up in one place then just happen to drop in another.

Haven't been involved much in the last few months, holidays, new job commitments, that kind of stuff. Shame I missed the last round. Saw this yesterday and thought I'd give it a go, here's the result of 4-5 hrs. May get it finished, but several trips this week, so don't know. Off to a trade show now....keep up the good work.

The Stormbringer lives in the upper atmosphere where the rapid movement of it's carbon fibre based exoskeleton builds up a massive electrical charge. In descending through clouds this can often result in ionisation of the atmosphere and electical storms as the massive charge contained in the creatures body dissipates to earth.

Final - Still not entirely happy with the head, crits welcome.

It seems that you missed reading past my question, wich is strange because you quoted form it, Rist. I read the title, but, as I mentioned, my creature doesn't cause/bring the storm, but travels along with it, so much so that when the creature is seen, it is always in the company of a massive storm, wich would make someone think that it created/brought the storm. :) Anyways, I tink it's ok... gonna start workin' on it. Thanks, by the way!

Hello, here's my first entry for the COW!

http://www.jontiu.com/experiments/cow98-chobomaster.jpg

Description:
On some nights when the world is asleep, the Stormbringer treads the flat earth. Resembling some sort of titanic salamander (so it is said), it roams among the clouds above the widest plains or the vast ocean, far beyond the eyesight of any man, and practices its craft. It creates what legends call "beautiful" cyclones, powerful, immeasurably tall, and gone in instants--all for reasons unclear. For what purpose is its art? Its intentions at least appear amoral; it does not seem to care of the devastation left in its wake.

The creature MUST BRING THE STORM. If it was following it then then it would be called Storm Follower or Creature Bringer.

SImon: that's a really great start. The atmosphere is really nice. As far as direction of where its going... you know the first thing I thought of was that the spires on the backs of the creatures were like lightning rods.

Electricity will always take the path of least resistance. Maybe these guys have a highly conductive shell and stand taller than other things around them. Maybe they attract storms in their direction because of this. I think it sounds feasible. Sort of. They drag the storms around where they travel. Yeah. That's the ticket. ;)

Hey, Simonstalenhag, I think you're image could really be improved if the creatures were actually moving...there's a lot of wonderful movement & busy-ness in the bg & it takes away that the creatures are standing stark still...imho of course. :D Just a thought :) :bashful:~

Thanks for a the c&c. The idea of them being conductive is pretty good... we'll see what happens. Yes it's really hard to get the movement to come across with these slow moving creature. I've tried to but it's hard, obviously. Maybe it will help if their bodies are slightly tilted, hinting some shifting of weight.

Cumulus Impala

Cumulous Impala wander the seas in herds. They are more elemental beings than creatures of flesh and blood. Each deer naturally produces boiling clouds and crackling lightning as part of their defence against predators. This produces a cumulative effect- the more Impala you have in one place, the more ferocious the storm they produce.
In the past small fishing villages made sacrificial offerings to the Impala, but they are so rarely seen by human eyes, that the practice has almost been forgotten.

Ages ago, when mages were more powerful than the feeble human mind could possibly comprehend, the Stormbringers were created. Enormous demons infused with raw elemental magic. The mages died, but left behind their creations, who still roam the skies, causing thunderstorms by unconsciously emitting magical energy to the air around them.

Here's the description:

Each summer the mighty poseidon rises out of the Atlantic trenches to spread its offspring to the four winds. In its ascent
it accumulates oxygen within its body which allows it to rise several hundreds of meters above the sea surface. A medium-sized
poseidon can easily cause significant disturbances in ocean currents and atmospheric conditions, giving way to hurricane
and cataclysm. Once it has cast its spores in the air the creatures dies from exhaustion and collapses in on itself.
Many spores reach land and are often inhaled by humans. Scientist have found out that the spores have negative behavioral effects and some theories go as far as saying most of human strife, war and dissension is triggered by poseidon sporae.

Its currently drawn on bristol...Ive taken a piece of marker paper (which is a bit transparent) and Ive traced this drawing with a prismacolor pencil.....then I mounted it onto ilustration board to give it more sturdiness so I can paint it with watercolor and oils....its just something I enjoy doing...:)

so why dont you just do it directly on to illustration board first? i ask becouse i do oils myself staight onto illustration board, no mounting or anything.

or do you mean mount as in trace the image on, and not mount as in glueing the bristol paper onto the boards?

Oh man, Mike Corriero is back in the mix. Watch out fools hes back and with videos in tow. I watched those things last night and simultaneously experience feelings of inferiority and the need to get in there and draw furiously. Hey Mike, one day when youre not busy you think you could explain some of the steps in those videos? I was watching really close and Ive memorized most of your process from earlier tutorials but you did a few things that I wasnt sure as to what you were doing because of the speed of the video. Nice composition by the way.

Supervlieg@- Thanks man

Djib@- Thanks, yea I started to think of the movie "twister" ... " I gotta go we got cows".. :) then I just decided to tear the one cow apart. There will be more debris, some extra buildings, lightning and rain.

Thalion@- Hey thanks, yea it's just one computer but when my bro was over for the weekend he was optimizing my settings to make things quicker and told me the original windows theme is better than the xp theme.

Lenorekitty that's looking really cool :)

Nexus@- Thanks, yea I've got the program Camtasia a short while ago when doing a workshop for ImagineFX so now I'm having lots of fun with it. I know the videos are low quality so it's hard to see what I'm doing and the speed makes that even harder. In order to make it a 3 part series to fit on youtube I had to watch the time so I've got it sped up pretty quick.
When I'm not too busy I'll fool around and try to figure out how to voice over narration with the video sped up, cuz right now I'm not sure how to view the video at it's sped up pace while recording my voice. I do have a mic and I'm sure I'll make some narrated videos in the future.

As a side note, I do believe the leaves on the trees are done using Mike Corriero's leaf brushes (but I may be wrong). Thanks, though!

http://greggilmore.com/images/Storm_Bringer_LordEdwin.jpg

This Storm-Bringer plant behemoth rises out of fallow plains and marshlands once every few months to collect energy from passing cloudbanks. Using great supercharged vine-like tentacles, the Storm-Bringer attracts and encourages great lightning storms to descend onto its appendages, replenishing its energy stores over the course of a few days. It then slowly melts back into the ground, to generate growth in itself and the plant life in the area through measured discharges of its stores over the following months, until it must rise again. They don't travel, but will die only after a decade or more of drought.

m o я p h o@- Thanks, hmmm in the 2nd video. The first song is by Daft Punk and it's called Human After All. The second song in that video I'll have to check into because I downloaded it from a torrent consisting of a bunch of great film composers but the tracks weren't listed. The third song at the end is by Mum (Finally we are no one) and the song is called, "don't be afraid, you have just got your eyes closed."

Nexus@- check my reply above, if I can find the composer and name of the second song in the second video I'll let you guys know. It doesn't sound familiar to me though it's the first time I've heard it.

Sangmort@- Thanks man.. don't say that just yet, there's plenty of time and all "those guys" who come in last minute with bombs :) but thanks. I'll have to check that site out.

Lord Edwin, I can't tell myself.. maybe if you got it off of my blogspot, I have a list of brushes for download on there containing falling leaves, bunches of leaves, dirt, grass etc. There was also another maple leaf brush I created.

Scorge@- You're officially bitch slapped, join the fun :) I had to join in this one I've been gone too long. I produced 100 thumbs for round 100 but seeing how the topic is changing I don't know if I'll bother to color them.

Part 03 Music in order: The Servants - Cells (the theme from Sin City) and the second song is from Shadow of the Colossus - The Tale of Sixteen Sacrifices

Part 04 - The Final video, the Image is done. I'll post it and the description soon. Music in Order: Winged Migration OST - Tambour battant by Bruno Coulais the second and third songs are from The Time Machine by Klaus Badelt - Stone Language and the last short portion is called Eloi.

Here's my final version, then, of this tentacled, NON-plant creature. I hope it's an improvement (in image as well as bio). It's still in line with the ideas I had originally had before posting. :)

http://greggilmore.com/images/Storm_Bringer_LordEdwin02.jpg

Slowly making it's way across great plains, the Storm-Bringer quickly generates great cloud covers with it's super-charged mass. It entices lightning from the clouds to give it energy and to direct at fleeing animals in it's path. As it moves over plants and animals alike, it absorbs their parts with its acidic underside or lifts them from the ground with it's tentacles to eat within it's great, hot maw. Once satiated, the Storm-Bringer crawls under the plains to rest for months before rising again.

Sangmort and Longshao- Thanks guys glad you like what you saw in the video. To answer the question about the perspective grid, It's just something I've set up in a separate file at a very high resolution on a new layer. Just to have it handy whenever I need it instead of creating one from scratch for every piece that needs it. I've seen other artist do this...helps a lot. ( Just laid out a horizon line and using the line tool manual spread each out on one half than copy pasted it and flipped it horizontally to save me the trouble of making the other half. Then when using it in a piece of work I'll distort or flip it however need be.

Coouldliate - The Storm Bringer
In ancient times these mythical and evil creatures were first awoken by the Bahal cult, an order of outcast wizards or warlocks as some have come to be known. Using their dark arts for evil deeds and waging wars against their elders they tapped into magic that was forbidden and brought the skies to life. They awoke the Coouldliates from among the clouds, the dark angry skies filled with rage and destructive powers.
Present day: The Cooudliate lay dormant for a while but every now and then they pop up to remind those wizards lurking and walking among us as business men, athletes, homeless, politicians, artists and farmers that they are still strong and alive. To mortal eyes they appear as natural forces of nature but to the wizards and warlocks they are a living intellect, a devil breed of elements who feed on devastation and mass destruction gone out of control.

The Storm Bringer is a “Storm Bringer” purely by accident. This little creature collects in swarms to mate and begin its life cycle again while in turn creating what could be described as a storm. These creatures prefer dry flat land where they burrow deep into the soil where they feed on a type of fungus. The Females will also lay her “clutch” or eggs here about 16 ft below the surface. Males are more common than females and only burrow about 6 inches beneath the soil. Once air and ground temperatures reach a high of about 102 – 112 degrees the Storm Bringers will begin to vibrate their belly plates. These tiny plates coat the entire underside of the creature in the millions. The vibration of the plates not only sounds like a train coming at you but provide a magnetic charge opposite to the ground so the creature can begin to “levitate”. About 600,000 Storm Bringers have been counted in the last mating ritual. The Pure force of these creatures producing a magnetic charge will create a burst of air upward into the sky. They ride this “wave” of hot ground air up into the cooler air of the troposphere thus creating massive thunderheads and clouds around the animals. Bioluminescence is the method the males use to attract females. Putting on a light show up and down their bodies while they twist and turn around in the sky the males will light up the darkened clouds and try to attract a mate. When a male grabs a female’s attention they will “spit” out a mixture of this chemical or his Bioluminescence into the sky. The Chemical ignites with the magnetic charge created by the animals and ends up as a quick burst of light or electricity. All the While the Storm Bringers are releasing waste as they fly creating a “rain” of excrement.

FINAL:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/simonstalenhag/cow98_simonstalenhag-1.jpg

The Stormbringer was first discovered by Dr Jangus Lee, who in his
obsessive quest to find these animals, where caught in a storm only
to witness the animals perform their marvelous mating ritual in the deep
core of the hurricane. Lee thought that the animals was drawn to the
storm, but further studies have shown that it is in fact the storm that
is attracted to the animals.

Tests have shown that the Stormbringer can manipulate the composition
of it's surrounding atmosphere. When they gather in large numbers,
their combined efforts can indeed alter the weather, even creating a
full hurricane, and some believes that the Stormbringer charges it's body
with electricity from the lighting in the storm only to discharge it in the
calm weather in eye of the storm, as part of the animals mating ritual.
Animal tracks made of fulgurite have been found on breeding sites,
supporting this theory.

Aquila Fulguris
The storm is coming... Aquila Fulguris, Eagle-Lighting, herald of gods' wrath, legendary creature which brings thunders, appeared above the village. When the ancients felt the hot air full of humidity, which in their conviction was a breath of the beast, they known that in the few hours Aquila Fulguris and the pour will come. The Ancients thought that this animal was a gigantic bird, an eagle send by Zeus, but the truth is different... The beast was a 30 metres long reptile, probably some kind of rare wyvern. Creature causes the storm using the fumes from its breath. During the flight, electricity appears at the ends of wings and it accumulates in the strange horns on animal's head and tail. Aquila Fulguris uses this energy to create giant spark- lighting. This ability makes it enormously powerful and successful hunter which gets always what it want. It inhabits the top of the big mountains in Greece. The beast was the bad omen for ancient people, it is said that when someone will see the creature, that means that the terrible cataclysm is coming.

Hi everybody, great work so far! Mike, thanks for taking the time to make and post the vids. Here's my take on the subject, description soon...

Took out the dino thing and replaced with a human for scale...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v52/Vegasmike/thunderstormdone.jpg

The Great Banta:This creature normally resides in the polar regions of planets. It uses airsack-like lungs throughout its body for lift and to support its massive frame...They feed on airborne zooplankton and the occasional flying animal. In its quest for the most abundant plankton it will often traverse the jet streams to the south...upon arriving in the warmer climates the cold air surrounding the creature and updrafts created by its flight cause the formation of cumulonimbus clouds charged with electricity. These conditions produce some of the most violent thunderstorms imaginable with high winds, frequent lightning and tornadoes. Needless to say this great beast plays an important role in planetary atmospheric conditions.

In the remotest part of the mountains, once in a generation, usually just when the villagers were convinced it was all just a story, the sky would turn colors never before seen. The creature swept down an isolated mountain valley with a roaring wind, bringing a maelstrom of lightening, hail, and thunder. Towers were toppled, roofs ripped off, livestock disappeared or plunged to their deaths. Survivors swore they heard an unbearable scream of a bird of prey and the beating of wings as the thing passed, never to return until the memory was once again almost lost.

Storm Serpents - These gaseous creatures are completely bound to the atmosphere and reside at different altitudes depending on it's state at the time. When dormant or resting they are almost transparent and ribbon like using just enough energy to navigate thermals and stay inside the protective home of Cirrus formations furthest from the planet. When active, these creatures swell to enormous size like writhing battleships in the darkening clouds. This mix of Serpent and Global activity is conducive to some of the most incredibly violent storms and spectacular light shows a massive storm can offer.

When Thor, the norse god of thunder, reached adolesence, Odin gave him a gift of manhood in the form of a proud stallion. The migthy horse had a stormy wild temper and Odin advised Thor to always ride him with caution and be a superior master. But Thor, still young and impulsive, did not listen to his father and rode off with overwhelming speed and force. So the horse quickly got control over the greenhorn rider and fiercly showed his unbendable temper. The God of Thunder could only hold himself for a short time, before falling onto the bitter ground of Asgard. But the horse broke all boundaries and rode off to Midgard, the World of the humans.

There, the horse was caught by an unknown race and was quickly recognized as a godly animal. They crossed it with other horses to breed a small herd of superior horses and used them for their Warchiefs to conquer massive amounts of territory.

But thus arose the anger of Odin. After learning about the foolishness of Thor and the cruelty of the humans, he punished them both by freeing the horses and taking away a little of Thors powers of thunder. He transferd those powers to the horses, giving them manes of clouds, hoofs of thunder and their galloping became the thunder. So they were able to soar the skies and bring stoms to the world of Midgard to remind the humans never to mess with the property of the gods again...

This is the legend how storm and heavy weather came to Midgard...

(Midgard = our planet Earth)

Ok,
So this is my first post to conceptart, so... uh... be gentle.
Here's my response to COW#98 (Stormbringer). It's certainly not a 'natural' beast, but it is definitely animalistic - which I'm hoping conforms to the spirit of the contest. I think a dust storm should still fall under the category of meteorological event, so hopefully I'm not putting anyone's nose out of joint with that either.

I hope the pic is up to scratch, it's really only my second digital colour painting, so I've still got the training wheels on. Anyways, there's a bit of text to go with it, which I'll add to the bottom of this post.

(Oh, and if the image doesn't come through again, it's also posted at http://pixolotl.deviantart.com/art/Ghul-of-the-Waste-by-piXolotl-64865174)

"The ghūl is a monster of Arabian myth. It is a dark jinn spirit, an inhabitant of wastelands and a feaster on human flesh. Like all jinn it is made of 'smokeless fire', and its form is shadowy and mutable - one moment it may be small enough to hide under a pebble and then in one blink of an eye it may grow large enough to blot out the sun. Though it may appear as a human to trick the unwary, a ghūl is an animalistic creature, something like a dog or a hyena. Subjects of Iblis, the Shaitan, the ghūl must answer the summons of a black magician, and may be called upon to perform great and terrible deeds in the name of greed or revenge.

This is a ghūl unleashed upon a modern city of the middle east, in the form of a great shadowy dog - unseen to all but magicians, black and white. As its baleful red eyes sweep over its victims, its foul breath washes across the streets as the baking heat of a terrible dust storm."

I must apologise for WIPing but I'm afraid I'm cutting it awfully close to the deadline... started late and I'm itching to go for a run right now. I'll update when I get a chance to finish up later on. [Edit] Ah, I'm exhausted and out of time. Oh well, will try harder next time.

http://www.artifice.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/post/storm-bringers-wip.jpg

The Braghai tribes of the Nirvwi savana planes on Ril believe the Storm Bringers watch under them. When they are angry they send up red clouds, summoning and heralding the imminent arrival of the storm god. In reality the 'Storm Bringers' are a type of sedentary annelid (worm) who are no more responsible for the coming of storms than a heard of sitting cows.

The Storm Worms spend most of the time buried in the dust, digesting decaying organic matter. Their bodies swell in low pressure atmospheric conditions. In extreme conditions, in advance of a storm, their bodies inflate with gas and float into the air. The males explode and die, releasing red clouds of dusty gametes to fertilise the females, who continue to be swept along in front of the storm. The females are finally engulfed by the storm where they are destroyed, raining down moist eggs – a tasty treat, prized as an aphrodisiac by the Nirvwians.

holy crap there are some amazing entries this week!

here's my effort... I feel as though its been ages since I've done a 'real' painting, I'd forgotten that painting is actually kind of fun! I'm not sure exactly what is going on here though...

The Storm Bringer: Despite being worshipped as enigmatic alien overlords (no doubt because of their brain like appearance and huge size) the Storm Bringers are incredibly stupid creatures, drifting aimlessly around the ocean sucking up anything in their path, stirring up huge storms in their wake.

Hey guys, lotz of good stuff here...

Especially liked:

Gorromog... nice for the fact that its real acrylics... continue to paint and you will do great art without a tablet...

Thalion... Great work..good colors and kompostition of diagonals... a pity it is a dragon concept...

Lander... Man, bring it in colors...rocks...

VegasMike...just awesome stuff...

MikeC.... awesome as usually...

I know, my piece is not thaaaaat mind-blowing orginial...but the whole norse god idea alone with the lightning clad horses where enough for me to paint the piece...
I am still learning so much in the art department, so sometimes I feel like it helps when I do some more classic stuff instad of a over the top freaky creature, so I hope you can bare with me that its "just" horses :)...

Mourner
There is one legend describing this creature... An old fisherman has seen that animal crying for the lost female which was killed by some poachers. They were laughing and happy from their trophy. But when the male has start his song .....howling....crying....suddenly the weather has change and the great storm has come. Huge waves and thunders have sink poacher's bout. They say that sea gods love these creatures and everyone who will try to hurt them will be punish.

Hi all, Here's my entry for the Stormbringer and first ever COW....defo doing more of em :P

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/2833/cow98stormbringersellisqr0.jpg

Not so long ago an eccentric millionaire obsessed with the mystery of the 'Bermuda Triangle' saw fit to fund his own expedition to this baffling location and try and uncover the disappearances that have confused many for generations. Unfortunately, like many before, the ship he was on experienced navigational problem due to the massive electromagnetic storms that are found in that area. This resulted in the crew and the millionaire being stranded on the archipelago that lay beneath the thick fog. After days of being stranded they came upon the USS Cyclops, the ship that went missing in 1918 along with one of the Grumman aircraft from flight 19 that went missing during WW2. However; their eyes were transfixed on something far more amazing. The reason for the electromagnetic storms...............................

As of yet unnamed this massive reptile has tiny eyes and as a substitute uses electromagnetic pulses in order to find others and in doing so charges the clouds and fog with electricity causing a chain reaction that results in huge storms. These creatures have inadvertently caused hundreds to go missing every year but none have ever seen it. Their's a slim chance that these are what Native Americans refer to as the 'Thunderbird' for obvious reasons. However; none have ever returned to tell the tale!

Jakkas Nice one, really great render.
Mike Corriero Beautifully rendered, cheers for the vids to.
Simon Turned out well, glad to see you stuck at it.

Alice I love what you've made, and it's so close to what I wanted to make I'll sit this one out. I actually had mine sucking up soft cold clouds into a hot body and spewing out storms. Good Luck!

Came out real nice Alice

Jakkas, thanks.. I knew you'd show up eventually.. 15 stars? I've been gone too long lol. It's a shame the creature is facing away from the viewer, we're only really getting to see his tail...I'm left to assume the rest looks like a sea-lion.

nice rendering Sellis

This creature lives on fear and hate and brings bad weather where it goes. I didnt have much of an idea what to draw until my friend Dan sent the poem( which he wrote) that i based my drawing upon. Hope you like!

This creature lives in desert.
Desert is not enough water.
So... This creature makes storm.
And.. It rains.

The Sulfutherium is a 4 meters long rhinocerus that uses an unique mechanism of defense, it consits in a special gland located below the horn, the gland produces a very thick and stinky gas, when large amount of this gas reach the the cloud it produces a reaction that creates storms.

hmmm....your creature is an insect, so it is also as small as an insect? If so, is it bringing a big storm on the sky as we know it? I am asking because if it is only causing a small storm-like event it is not what the topic asked for...

Damn, there is so much good work here..guess summertime lying in the sun is over, eh guys? 8)

Thalion: Thnx for the tipp, I followed your advise and darkend the whole image down, I don't know why but I often give too little contrast to my pieces... It really helped the picture... gotta get a more contrast/color proof screen instead of my cheap notebook display...

Sellis: Awesome piece...great mood and atmosphere..

Greetz 2 all!
