watch the proportions on your figures.
the head seems to be a little big.
also get a sketch book! stop drawing on lined paper...not now....NOW!

on a lighter note...your last piece is quite nice....keep up the good work in this direction.

I think I need to go back to drawing for a while. It's definitely a weak point for me. I was inspired by the work in the Spartan training camp and Bumskee's sketchbook so I decided to start the past few days doing 50 gestures of whatever.

I don't think the bird one was that successful. I think it was partly because all the photos are of birds sitting, not much energy in the shapes, and partly because I ink like a 4th grader :).

Its good you back to the studies , and don't worry about inking like a fourth grader , I paint like a first grader , using finger paints.

Thx Evxyza. I left you a comment too.

here's some more stuff from a light work weekend. Damn you Odin Sphere !!>:{

203437
Bought in Montauk, caught in the Philippines. Aww yeah, represent.

203438
photo refs, decided to do martial artist poses today. these take me about an hour (plus googling photos) and I'm pretty tired by the end.

203439
Tried to do the "endurance drawing to break yourself" method to designing characters. some of these are just ridiculous but some are ok--I think it's helping me stop being stiff (aka I have something stuck up my ass that I'm getting out). I recommend trying it.

My teacher once told us how she once did 100 paintings in 24 hours--she said it was a great exercise, but she wouldn't recommend it. I am considering doing it on a smaller scale.. perhaps 50 in 12 hours?

Anyway thanks for looking. C+C welcome, as always, plus any general life advice you think we could use.

some weird hockey dude. and an homage to the greatest mecha anime to date--Evangelion (macross plus and eureka seven are close behind). I think her face is messed up, I reworked it quite a bit but maybe I'll just do it over later on.

I realized something the other day. I give hard crits but sometimes I'm unable to follow my own advice. I guess that's what you call moving into stage 2 conscious incompetence.

some more figures. last time the goal was stroke economy, this time was attempting to understand form. He had a big head, which threw me off because I usually fight with drawing too huge heads. crits welcome especially on perspective.

Nice SB! The kid with the thought bubble cracks me up. I also like the book case study - pretty sure I own half those books. I have a Unit 1 on my book case. :)

Chobo, thanks for stopping by my SB. As far as making you want to go do some studies, it looks like you do more than I (or at least post more of them. LOL) You have nice digital stuff here and I liked the line work on the animal contour sketches!

bunch of doodles and a wip

you know, wal mart is the greatest store for illustrators. i bought a crapload of props there over the past few weeks, including a cape for something like 12 bucks.

also, here's a cool magic trick: metallic spraypaint + random objects = ghetto medieval armor & weapons

Wow, I really like your stuff a lot. Some nice ideas in there. I'd love to see some more. One observation atm though, you seem to have an issue with legs. You either make them too long or too short. In some of the cartoon-y sketches it works ok but other times not so much, even in one of your life drawings on the first page there was some wonky-ness with legs.

I love that sketch with the dino jumping at the city, reminds of me that game Rampage.
