concept:
When severeal meteors hit the shell of the 'mountort' it might happen that they get blown off its small planet. Theese humungus guys roams the universe, bending time and space with its bizzare mass. Some people call em black holes.

artist: Cloister
concept: Ombolom
Between NOW and THEN there are mountains. Yes, vast impenetrable ranges of rock. And within those mountains lies the labyrinth of time, forever untouched by the clocks of men. Inside its winding tunnels lives a breed long forgotten, known in the old days as the Ombolom. Monkeys, or devils, no one knows, but those creatures hold in their kingdom the secret of time. At will, they bend the hours to their liking, exiting the tunnels WHEN-ever they please. Roaming worlds no longer here, as well as the present – from today to the forlorn past, it said that they search for treasure. Whether gold or knowledge, who can tell, but some has tried to reach their lair – for legends say that all is there.

artist: gatling
concept: Warp Eel
These harmless creatures mind their own, simply "eating" time in space shaving tens to hundreds of years of travel time. Starcraft, voyagers, and personal cruisers often trail the eel in hopes of finding shorter routes or new and exciting destinations. However, the frequencies emitted from them can lead to an override of unprotected systems and make navigational hardware defunct. Stay out of their way, an exit hole can be seen in an almost tangible rip which whirls into view at random.

artist: WhtTigress
concept: Temporal Sloth
The Temporal Sloth is a creature with uncanny abilities. This creature has no head nor mouth. It does not appear to see things the same way we do. It appears to have the ability to bend time in order to obtain food. It positions itself in a place where a likely prey has passed, and is able to bend time to the point where its prey is contained within its stomach. It is in this way that the sloth eats. It is unknown how many of these creatures exist as they can appear anywhen. Even two creatures seen at the same time may in fact be the same creature. Little else is known about these creatures as they are not easily studied.

concept:
This unknown type of whale as been around our ocean for as long as the water itself. well, almost. While it may look like is other whale cousins, it has evoluate with a distinctive ability. Using his unusually-big wings, it's able to generate water-wave frequencies that seems to bend the continuum of time. Probably developed to escape quickly from marine-carnivores attacks during the prehistoric age, it is now quite rare to see it in action. It is said that from time to time while lurking around the surface, a boat will scare one of them and it will disappear in a blink, leaving behind only a big whirlpool in the water.

He poses huge amount of energy. He is made from stars and star dust, and although he shine like a star, in some myths on different planets people call him "traveling dark", because his hart is a black hole.
His food is space it self. He eats everything that he came across. By vacuuming in his food he create huge time bending.

artist: Tom Garden
concept:
This leviathan of a creature is a time bender by default. It is the only creature in our existence that time does not effect. It could in-fact be the very first creature to grace our universe. As time does not effect the creature, it has to bend time around its massive body. And by doing so, that stirs time itself as we know it. This creature species is responsible for keeping the constant of time that we live in. But of course - bending time is not as simple as that. From the repercussions of bending time, it creates smaller sprites which are small offshoots of bent time. You know when it feels like time slows down during crisis, or speeds up when having fun? Well you have these little things to thank! They are drawn to activity, and if they interfere then we feel the effects of their time distortion. The mother time bender is able to seek out people in need of slowed "bent" time as seen in the picture. It is also believed that if these creatures were to die out - time would slow to a standstill keeping everything in one moment forever, without ever realising it!

artist: melvynerville
concept: Kronodo
The Kronodo feeds on zygnut pods so rich in iron that it eventually causes a calcified iron deposit that blocks the creature's mouth and nostrils. In an attempt to clear the blockage the Kronodo zaps it with a charge from special electricity producing organs. This charge (7 billion mega jules) causes the iron to magnetize creating a superconductor able to make a magnetic field of 10◊¨∏∏ thus creating a weaker gravitational field. This field bends time by slowing it to a standstill in a one M diameter around the creature. In this state the Kronodo does not need to eat drink or even breath and is frozen for eternity.

concept: Time dragon
Named so because its only defence is to age those that attack it. It breathes waves of temporal distortion, aging anything it hits. Similar to fire, but won't ruin your furniture! The creature controls the strength of the blast, and one second of exposure can mean aging a month, a century, or a millenium. hard to chop up a dragon if your bones have dissolved to dust.

artist: matias
concept:
This little guy who consists mainly on a diet of insects, uses his fused appendages, somewhat like a skipping rope, to create a stasis-like bubble. This mechanism has evolved as a way for the Time Bender to hibernate through the unfoirgiving winters of its habitat. Research reveals that it is not actually traveling through time merely creating the stasis-bubble in which time stops but outside it continues. This means that throughout winter the buble doesn't actually move (there has yet to be a predator that has been able to take advantage of this as the stasis-bubble while it can be seen is not actually there more like a ghost image). The time passes for the Time Bender as if it were a blink of the eye, and interestingly, further studies show that it does not actually age within this period. Because it can manipulate time but not actually technically travel through it this little creature was dubbed a Time Bender.

concept: Chronotaxus
When the planet of Treah was formed, a being of almost supernatural but somewhat understandable powers was brought into being in the universe.
Chronotaxus has the innate ability to bend time, but the difference between the males and females of the species and their abilities can be summed up in a few simple words. Wherever she goes, she takes the future with her. Literally. In the future, this young planet will become a veritable paradise. A cornucopia of life, where no harm or wrongdoing can invade. As for the Male, he is constantly living in the past. Literally, again. What we are seeing here is but a glimpse of a particular moment when the celestial body is young and violent, the males being subjected to what makes a planet. At one point in the life of Treah, the descendants of these two will find a balance, where the world is perfect for the both of them. But if we were to peek trillions of years into the future, we would see that the roles wil be reversed. Because as the planet begins to die from the burning out of the sun, the females of this doomed species would be caught in what would inevitably be their undoing, while the males will be happily (until the planet explodes of course) living in the past.

concept:
The time benders Float between time and space bending it together and then letting it drift back properly. They float through the time stream, eternal watchers perhaps, created by some god? No one is sure, their species was thought to be legend, but the Egyptians, people in the medieval period, and even people today have recorded accounts of these creatures letting loose a beam which they slip through. Oddly enough these recordings were always on the same day at the same time, even though the eras were many many years apart.....

concept: Cryfish
This spectre feeds on sudden death. A car accident, a gas explosion, a collapsing ceiling, whatever sudden and unexpected. To acquire the dark energy that is released in an event like this, the cryfish needs to slow down the motion of time, almost to a complete halt. Only in this frozen moment, it can extract the dark energy needed to survive and create offspring.

These creatures are intelligent by nature. All possessing a kernel of telekinetic ability to slow and speed their metabolism. Some are chosen at childhood to give up the pleasures of their world and lead a life of ascetic devotion. In Accordance with their ancient tradition, they starting with a grain of sand balanced on their heads, they slowly grow in power, eventually learning, with the shared power or others, to bend and shift time and space itself.

concept:
The idea is of a creature belonging to the oldest species of the universe, in fact, it could have being originated before the creation of our universe.
The origins and nature of such a creature would be difficult to understand for our tridimensional brains. We are talking of a being at least 13.700 millions years old, with a comprehention over time, space, and other dimentions that we can not even imagine.
His power is the hability to travel instantly, anywhere, in time and space, as something like pure energy and/or spirit. It can interact with
others beings, if he chooses to.

artist: Thalion
concept: Tharis Temporis
This 30 centimetres creature is unique appearance in the world of animals. It can control the speed of its molecules, what gives him an effect of time bending. Because of that creature moves extremely fast when all around seems to be motionless. Tharis Temporis hunts insects, but from time to time eat sweets. Animal is not natural part of the Earth's ecosystem. Probably creatures came from another universe during the top secret experiment with the magnetic field. Because of its "time" abilities animal is usually invisible for us. People often think that ghosts open doors or drawers, but this is only Tharis Temporis searching for sweets.

Damn it was cold. I hadn't had any feeling in my fingers for hours. The rocks were wet and slippery. I slipped and fell, climped a bit, slipped and fell. This continued for it seemed ever until I finally reached the top of the cliff. I saw the Psychotr for a mear hundredth of a second and I was gone. I fell through space and time, I was everything and I was nothing, I lived forever withtin a second. Everyone I had ever met, all those times I fell as a child and scraped my knees, that time I hit that llittle kid at my street and ran away from home for 6 hours, I lived through my life again, every second of it there on the cold wet rock. One look into the eyes of the Psychotr and time and space was history.

concept: Three Eyed Booshick
Latin name: Nefas Rana
The Three Eyed Booshick is an enigma to modern biologists. On many occasions these men of science have tried to unravel the Booshick heritage as well as its biologic make-up. Up till now many brave men have tried and failed to retrieve a specimen of the Booshick.
Only one rare research rapport has been found in New Mexico, USA. These very unique studies of the Booshick have revealed its ability to bend the fabric of time itself. These rapports also state that the Booshick has an incredible bad physique. To compensate for this however, the Booshick will bend time in order to succesfully hunt prey. This unique ability is also the reason why the Booshick has no natural enemies and is so succesfull at eluding its stalkers. The time bending mechanism utilised by the Booshick is believed to be a sort of gravity accelerating bubble on its back. When the Booshick is actively bending time, this 'time bubble' will grow and particles will accelerate around a glowing core, slowing time on a very local scale. Since most of the theories of the 'time bubble' consist mostly of silly variations on general relativity theories, any hope of new insights into spacetime has been abondoned in those reports.
Conspiratists believe the Booshick are a sign that we are indeed ruled by aliens and that the Booshick are their escaped pets.

Sorry, but you should have concentrated on the creature, not the typo or background...the creature has just too little details and looks not very well executed :(

No concept, no poll :)

You attached an image, but it was stated clearly that this is not allowed...you may send me the link for your image on a webspace, so i can add it afterwards ;)
walnut
looked quite unfinished...but the creature was cropped to half of the body...which was more convincing for the rejection ;)
Mj0lnir
It's a shame that the concept actually didn't fit the subject. Your creature doesn't bend time it only creates an earthquake, and people may "think" time is bend since they were not able to move because of the earthquake. But the creature itself dosn't bend time at all. Sorry. :(
Sawa, Hopsy
Can't see a proper creature there :[

hmmmm....a whale is a whale is a whale...next time try to make an own design ;)
Zutaiola
Actually you didn't write anything about time bending...but well, i assume that the creature can do so, since it is really involved in that stuff :D
gunnarsson
It breaks my heart to add you each time to this section...the problem is that your creatures have actually no real shape or design, but i liked the idea and description behind that, so you slipped through ;)
special note:
Nisse-Bula
I have no clue if your creature can bend time only by travelling through time, but after reading all the time bending stuff my mind is raped and bended itself, so i don't care actually :D

I voted for SV. Though the science behind the gravity accelerating bubble is a little dubious, so are lightsabers, so what the hell. It's certainly one of the weirdest entries, I like the painterly direction your work has been taking of late, and there is something interesting in the concept that with its akward anatomy, minus the time bending aspect, it would never eat. For me, that's incorporating the theme into the design, and that's solid.
There are way too many nice looking entries this round. Solid each in their own rights, but still tons of variation and individual personality in the stylistic choices. Very cool.

I liked the concept for mathias's creature the best, with the hibernation thing and all, and it was such a cute thing and all, so my vote goes out to him this round. Wasn't easy though, there was a lot of eyecandy in this round.
But i do have to point out that there is a whole creature in my entry. It's the pink glowy bit inside the vortex. Just wanted to get that straight.I'm okay though with not being witheld on account of it being unfinished, it could use more polish. (i don't mean the nationality of course.)

I voted for matias! lovely rendering and i can visualise the creature doing its little bubble movement and then floating peacfully about! :)
BRILLIANT round everyone - some great pictures and some even better ideas - props to whtigress because i personally thought this was the most imaginative idea for a creature to be bending time - just a shame the render didnt quite live up to the idea. But ideas are what count the most!

I voted for gunnarsson. First of all, there is tons of talent in the Gunnarsson boy. Second, there's so much mood in the piece and it reminds me of Tove Jansson. And third, I disagree with Fozzy, I think Gunnarssons creature is of brilliant design. It's just very simple and it wouldn't show up in any major game or big budget hollywood film. And so wouldn't Mårran. The best creature there ever was.
Extra plus for the graphic design and swedish writing;).

Matias, you got it man. I must have gone over the field three or four times, but your's is the one that always surprised me every time. And the story's not bad either. Great job.
Honorable Mention:
SV: Sick as always.
Simonstalenhag: Beautiful image. Makes me think differently about my daughter's goldfish.
Abo: This image makes me think of when I was a kid and admiring all the majesty and creations of Jim Henson. A little fuzzy, but all the same, very decent piece of work.
Thalion: You remind me of myself, but better. Keep up the good work!
Side Note and Crit:
NisseBula: Great to see you back! Your outlines seem to be getting thicker, but your imagination more fluid. I miss that smooth skin.
Final:

It was between mediaslave and matias, in the end I thought matias was the more original. So the time bug gets my vote.

Hey all
Very good round indeed! Lots of good entires for sure. I voted Simonstalenhag myself, because I really liked his idea and execution. Well done.
I am not sure if this is against the rules, but can anyone lay down some advice and critiques to help in later rounds? I am very new to this concept stuff, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks much, and congrats everyone.

There were a lot of really interesting takes on the topic. The artwork was not as well done as many of the other entries, but I had to vote for the piece by WhtTigress because the concept just made me think in a very profound way on the nature of life, predation, and assumptions about reality.
