hi, remember me? noo? okay!

I'm going on a trip to puerto rico for nearly two weeks and I want to seize this opportunity to sketch the flora, the ocean, the waterfalls - and all sorts of fun stuff besides my own family.

but I want to sketch in color! what art supplies do you recommend to bring for vacation sketching? portable, efficient, yatta yatta

I've got $40 to $60 bucks to spend on art stuff :tihi:

btw, I also suck at sketching the landscape - its overwhelming compared to a picture. does anyone have any tutorials?

You should be able to swing a small half pan watercolor set, a 5x7 Arches hot pressed block, and some decent brushes with that budget.

I was gonna go into a way to buy four tubes of oil paint, a set of brushes and some canvas...

but then I reread your post and it said ... efficient. Oh, Oil paint messy...

So, I think the following...

A bunch of grey and beige toned quality paper. Pastel pencil set! (CarbOthello by Stabilo) Might have to pick and choose colors seperately. Buck a piece or so. Get twenty or so diff. Good pencil sharpener (small metal, cheap). $1.00

Total: Maybe $35?

I used same equip for the pastel pix on my thread...

Wow...two weeks is a long time. U so lucky.

I agree with Elwell- go with the watercolors. I don't know if you are traveling all over the island or not, but there are alot of different environments there (old San Juan, beach, rainforest, dryer land in south) and I think you can capture them all best with watercolor.

I'd take some color pencils too.

Most important thing is to just take in all the culture and scenery- and food.
